Slept in till 9:30 up till 2. Breakfast at the hotel then back to the room to check out. Hotel will store our bags. We also hired a driver to take us to Gare du Nord station. Dragging luggage ip and down 3 flights or stairs just wasn’t appealing to us….been there done that!!
We headed out to the streets with the goal of finding the McDonalds with the outdoor sidewalk cafe. Shealyn wanted to try their hot chocolate and one of their hot chocolates. It’s fun to go to McDonald’s in another country and try the different options. This one had cheesecake, macaroons, and several speciality bake shop goods. One that looked interesting was the McGriddle with Nutella. We found McDonalds. It was busy! We ordered to go but in order to sit in the outdoor area we had to have our food on a tray. It didn’t take me long to get a tray and park our bags on it. I’m not sure the girl guarding the entrance appreciated my efforts!!
We separated after that. Marsha and Shealyn had some shopping to do and I was off on a mission. Yesterday we went to the perfume shop,
Rose Desgranges, and I wanted to go back and buy some perfume. You can get it off the internet but the shipping was pretty high. I’m so glad I did. When I walked in the door the grandson look up and said, “Hello. You were here yesterday!” I thought it was interesting that he remembered me. He gave me a candle as an added gift since I came back to buy more perfume.
We had arranged a car to take us to the Eurostar station fir our trip back to London. We were supposed to be at the hotel at 2:45. I had just enough time to get there if I moved fast. By this time I was familiar with the area and could find my way back easily. Shealyn and Marsha got there just ahead of me. We loaded up the car and said our goodbyes to Paris as our driver drove us to the station. We went through security, passport control, got a drink and boarded the train for London.
The Eurostar connects England and France by a tunnel that goes under the English Channel. Often referred to as the Chunnel, it is 31 feet long
and is the longest under sea tunnel in the world. At its desperate it’s 246 feet below sea level. It’s too speed is 186 mph. It takes 2 hrs and 17 minutes to travel between the cities.
When we arrived at the station we boarded a tube to get to Paddington Station. We are staying at our favorite hotel, Balmoral House. It’s a small hotel with great breakfast and in a great location.
My lost luggage was waiting for me in the reception room. Shealyn’s was not. I made another message to delta and we headed out for dinner. Once we returned to our room Shealyn was reunited with her bag. We were so happy!
We headed to bed as we were worn out.
