Metro Station
Metro Station Today is our last day in Paris. We can’t beleive Our time is finished already. It has been another wonderful visit for us. We always love Paris and are ready to come back again. Maybe we will do Christmas here this year, one of my wants , but not so much for Joanne. We will see.
We ventured into a part of Paris we had never been in. We were in the upper 17th at the Paris Flee Market to join up with our friend Katherine at a jazz cafe. The area has no tourists and it is understandable. We did fine getting to the metro stop from Rue Cler, but that is were things went wrong. The walk to the cafe was .5 miles and after at least a mile of circling around and wondering through flee market stalls I finally got google map on cellular and pedestrian mode we found our way to the cafe only 1 hour late. For the first time I went through neighborhoods that felt uncomfortable in, but we made it through OK. Once at the cafe we had a wonderful time listening to jazz, drinking wine, eating, and visiting. We then made it
Beer on the Street
Drinking beer on the street watching the France Argentina game. back to our little neighborhood and finished the day with a light dinner and back to the hotel to pack up for tomorrow. We have a 6:30 taxi to the airport and a flight to Barcelona to meet up with Judy and Dave Higbee. As I write this blog they are in the air on their way to Atlanta then Barcelona.
That is enough Blau Blau on my travel log. Just a few thoughts on Paris. You may ask why do Joanne Dave always come back to Paris. To tell you the truth I don’t know. Traffic is horrible, tourists are irritating, eating takes hours, the weather is never real good, everything is expensive, the metro is crowded, the trains are generally late. Well that should be enough to keep anybody away. For me Paris is my home away from home. Give me all the bad and I still see all the good. I don’t care about the traffic since I never drive here and the rodeo we call parking is always entertaining as you sit in a cafe and give the driver a thumbs up or down. Tourist I just avoid. Eating in a marvelous event the food
The Way
Camino de Santiago marker in front of Cathedral in Chartres is always excellent and something you must enjoy and savior. Fast service in France is bad service. If you want fast stay home and go to McDonalds. Anything that is good will cost. Anyway I still love coming back to Paris and probably always will. I will miss the warm people, great food, wonderful museums, great neighborhoods for wondering, and having a glass of wine anytime or anyplace. I will also miss the wonderful formality of people here. Always Bonjour, two kisses or a hand shake, how are you and that is when you enter a shop. Thank you and good byes always. It makes me feel that people really care you exist when you enter their shop. You are not just a customer.
That is it for now More tomorrow from Spain.
