Hey all!! Sorry that it has been soooo long since I have written a proper blog, but the internet has been few and far between and extremely expensive so you will pretty much get all of my blogs when I make it back home and when I can match the photos up with it all... But even though I am now in the last 8 days of my tour I thought I would start back at the beginning since I keep getting emails asking me what has happened to the blogs!! On the first day of the tour we had our bags weighed and by some stroke of a miracle mine ended up coming under the 20kg limit and it is a good thing that they don't weigh carry on luggage as I am sure that ... read more

Hey all Its been a few days since our first blog and what a few days it has been! so much has happened we dont know where to start one of the reasons why we didn't writte earlier was because the hostel computers had french layout keyboards which means that touch typing is useless and it actually makes it more frustrating because you go from 70 words/min to spending up to 2min sometimes to figure out where a damn character is! it makes writing anything longer then 2 sentencase so frustrating you'd feel like smashing your head on the keyboard. Anyways we have left Paris and have arrived a few hours ago in Nice, south of france (oh and this hostel has standard keyboards!). Because we had a limited time in Paris we tried to pack ... read more

Finals finished up on Friday. It was two two-hour exams... nothing incredibly stressful. I was very happy to get the tests out of the way so that I could shift my complete attention to our european tour. After exams, I spend much of Friday afternoon simply getting things in order (packing, cleaning, trip planning, details, details, details, etc.). That night our group spent one last night together at the Molly Darvy's restaurant before we headed over to the Trinity Rooms club. Just drinking and dancing. It was funny... over the course of this trip we've made good friends with our bus driver, Paul (a former British soldier). He became especially close with Lisa from our group and he's actually bought a plane ticket and is heading over to the states (Nebraska and Kansas) in early September. ... read more

On Monday night, Nick and I were haning out in our lobby bar, having a few beers and shuffling some Uno cards when a group of British girls sitting next to us recognized the cards and wanted to play. We obliged and ended up playing late into the night and getting to know the girls. They had just gotten into Paris and didn't know their way around, so we told them we'd take them sight seeing in the morning. Nick and I had already set a list of sights to see. We woke up pretty early in hopes of beating the other tourists to Notre Dame and actually succeded, in a sense. We were able to get into the cathedral with no problems, but the line to get into the towers still took a wile, but ... read more

Things have been pretty fast paced since we left Limerick. We finished finals last friday and got really smashed to celebrate our mediocre performances. It made for a great last night and we ended up staying at the Trinity Rooms in city centre until they closed. It was great fun, but we had a terrible day of traveling saturday morning when we had to get up at eight because of it. Nonetheless, we made it to Paris. Though Nick and I really didn't feel right until we went to sleep that night. But before we did that, we managed to work in a few hours of strolling, climaxing with a night-time view of the Arc de Triomphe. The next morning, we woke up and decided we'd knock out the Eiffel Tower as a means to A) ... read more

after over 30hours of flying, four stopovers and 6 plane meals we finally made it :) the flights in general were good apart from the crying baby we picked up in Brisbane and followed us all the way to Paris. i think he had a timer to start screaming its head off for the last 15min before each landing which irrirated everybody on the plane! during the flight we calculated what times we should sleep to minimise the jetlag once we get to europe. mohamed wrote it all down and followed the plan by sleeping at the correct times but it was a bit harder for me! the first sleeping slot passed by without any sleep at all so we decided I take a sleeping pill for the next slot but it only gave me 1.5 ... read more

Paris is a great city in many ways. In other ways it can be terrible. One of the ways in which Paris is absolutely horrific is its traffic. Observing this seemingly organized chaos from the sidewalk café can probably be exotic, interesting, and entertaining. Observing the Paris traffic from a moving vehicle for which you yourself are responsible for maneuvering is a completely different world. Paris may be the city of cities, but the traffic is pure jungle. Going into close combat with the Parisians on wheels is one of those adventures you will look back at laughing one day, a story to tell your grandchildren. However, when you are actually in the smack middle of it you are closer to tears or a mental breakdown. Having said that...The Paris weekend for us four Swedish out-of-towners ... read more

hello from paris! So our hostel rocks except the sketchy mean man who yells at EVERYONE! law and order is currently on in french (best show ever). We crammed a lot in yesterday but i only have 10 minutes left to type so i'll save the details for later. We have decided to keep a few interesting lists. 1) the number of times i (emily) fall/trip/stumble currently 6 2) the number of sketchy people we meet/run into currently 4 (including the men who followed us down the road screaming discoteque!!!) 3) and a list of interesting quotes Anyway we watched some pretty interesting street performers today, uncluding a man from scotland who had some difficulties with his music for his act, and another man who forced everyone walking by to stop and watch by yelling "STOP!!". ... read more

Well, I've made it to Europe safely - rather sick, but getting better! There has been so much to see and not even enough time to write about it so I am sorry to be putting some of you on hold. I will put some of my journals up some days from now, because I need time to catch up on my writing and then put it online. The sights have been phinomenol and we have seen so much. I am amazed that my trip is not even half over yet. I miss everyone and will have many funny stories to tell when I return. ... read more

What a full day we have had today! We had a bit of a sleep in after our hectic day and night yesterday. We got up and headed to the local supermarket Champion and stocked up with supplies (including some chocolate croissants for breakfast) We headed to the Eifel tower then the Arc De Triumph (which we climbed). After that we strolled down the Champs Elysees and found a nice little park and ate our delicious lunch care of Champion. We continued to stroll until we reached the Louvre, but we didn't go in because we had both been before. Then we headed along the Seine river wondering what to do next when an American couple offered us some boat tickets so we spent the rest of the afternoon/evening sailing down the Seine. We got off ... read more
