wow, what an amazing place! it is undescribably massive. i went by train - got on the wrong one so went the long way around. it took over an hour, instead of 30 mins, but it was all good - ended up at the right spot. i did a tour of the state rooms. what can i say - the most amount of gold i've ever seen in one place. it was built for louis XIV because he was living in the louvre and thought that was too small!! he was called the sun king because he loved gold so much - so obvious from his house! i just went through one tiny part of it - it took me 2 hours to walk through! not that tiny! the part i was in had 5 drawing rooms, as well as all the other stuff. why does anyone need 5 drawing rooms? what do you do in a drawing room? then i went through the gardens - also very large, and very nice of course. i wouldn't want to live there. too gawdy and to much decoration. too many self portraits and sculptures. if louis XIV was just walking around, he'd be seeing himself all the time - no thanks. mirrors are bad enough - oh, he has a massive hall of mirrors too. anyway - i had a nice day. it rained a bit though 😞 i think i've lost my umbrella. i'm so mad. i haven't had a proper look though. i still have my trusty raincoat.
