After a couple weeks in living the big city life we decided to take our travels to the country side for a change in pace. We caught a train from Paris to Bordeaux and arrived late afternoon with no arranged accomodations or understanding as to why we chose Bordeaux as our next destination. Exiting the central station we decided to catch a tram into the city center in search of a place to stay but unknowingly Tenille got on a tram while we were snubbed out by a baby´s carriage and left to wait for the next one. Fortunately for us Bordeaux can be walked accross in about an hour and it wasnt long until we found her helplessly lost at an information booth. Our original plan of staying in the only local hostel failed due to lack of capacity and we were forced to stay in a run down hotel that after weeks in hostels felt like The Hilton. As we explored Bordeaux we quickly realized that it was either the model capital of the world or there just happened to be some sort of beautiful people´s conference at the time. Despite the women to men ratio being extremely in our favor our lack of french left us stranded. Opportunity lost. With intentions of detoxing we were able to exercise for the first time in weeks and gain a better appreciation for some of our surroundings. Our only objective in Bordeaux was to go on a wine tour so we decided to seize the opportunity and found ourselves at 9 am about to embark on a 13 km hike through the vineyards. Suprisingly enough we were not the youngest in the group, however, our tour guide and his translator belonged on scooters carrying oxygen tanks. We believe they were born around the same time wine was discovered. After 8 hrs of sampling wine and dining on fine french cuisine we were ready for a quiet night with intentions of a 6am train to Barcelona in the morning. That night Tenille left all the windows open to feed the mosquitos and we left the next morning looking like we had contracted another round of chicken pox. Recharged, spotted, and ready to go its off to Barcelona in search of sun and the Mediterrainean.
