I just had the most fabulous week with my Mom here in France. Her long-anticipated vist to see me was even more fabulous than I had been hoping for, and we certainly managed to pack a lot of stuff into 8 days! The most characteristic aspect of Chambord is its complicated rooflines.

Thanks to a double-spiral design, it is possible to go all the way upstairs without passing anyone on their way down...they take the other staircase in the column!
