I just had the most fabulous week with my Mom here in France. Her long-anticipated vist to see me was even more fabulous than I had been hoping for, and we certainly managed to pack a lot of stuff into 8 days! These rocks were covered in about 15 minutes...the tidal amplitude is really amazing in this region!

On Monday we drove from St. Malo east to the Mont Saint Michel, and then we traved the coastline all the way back west to St. Malo (near this picture) before heading south and following the Rance down to Dinan. After dinner there, we headed west again to St. Brieuc! Long day. But magnificent.

This charming Old Port of Dinan lies in the valley of the Rance, below the fortified medieval city which perches high above it up a steep slope. We ate a delicious seafood dinner here!

The furthest north point in Brittany- from there, you can take a ferry to the pedestrian-only archipelago of the Ile de Brehat. We want to return and spend a half-day there...
