Day 8 Brantome to Sergeac 61 miles

D69 to Agonac D106 to Sorges D74 to Coulaures D73 to Tourtoirac various little rds to Hautfort D62 to Condat sur Vezere D45 to Montignac. D65 to Sergeac

Difficult days cycling through spectacular countryside in wall to wall sunshine with a temp of 28 degrees. There were quite a few difficult hills alright for Bradley but not his mother !

Unlike the northern side the farms are smaller as are the fields .The hay had already been cut & baled.Other fields were full of sunflower plants about six inches high & lots of walnut trees.The area is the home of Foie gras & truffles.

French family's were out on there terraces today having BBQ,s

Very quiet roads a deer & fox crossed our path & there were many buzzards soaring in the thermals.

This area is known in France as the cradle of mankind as it has prehistoric cave paintings & troglodyte caves.The remains of the earliest modern human ancestor , Cro Magnon man , were found.

Chateaux are two a penny down here but none doing B&b ! We are the only people staying at a lovely Auberge overlooking the Vezere river valley.
