Alright. Week number one under my belt. Been a week full of adventure, and jet leg. I last left you as I was about to go about on my journey on my first full day in Bordeaux. I have since had many an adventure walking though the streets of downtown Bordeaux. Really is a beautiful city. Lots of old architecture with a common theme through-out. You know you're in Bordeaux. Day one I found the local camera store, and even met a paparatizzi! (who told them I was here?).
Trying to keep costs low well in Bordeaux, specially this first few weeks. This being said I was still able to get out and enjoy myself. I bought a bottle of wine, a baugette and some cheese and in total is was all under 5e. Not bad at all compared to Canada where you have to auction off your childern to buy the cheese, let alone the wine!
But it was time now to work off that wine and cheese so I joined this communal bike service here in Bordeaux where you simply pick up a bike at one location, and drop it off at another. Super cool and efficient,
My 5 euro meal
Yum! (white wine, gouda cheese, baguette and a cookie!) everyone uses them. (Nenshi if you're reading this... wink wink nudge nudge). Took the bike over to the cities contemporary museum and to my surprise it was a free entry day (score!). Really cool to look inside, but I later found out that it was inbetween exibits so thus the free entry. I did however get the chance to see a magnificently large hall with beautiful 3 story arches with
hundreds thousands of tires on the floor. Was it a comment on waste? Or simply waste? Comments?
This weekend I had the pleasure of going to Biscarrosse for a few days, a town I will become more familiar with in the coming months. Took the local train most of the way there. Really cool to see how the local train system works. Will be using it a lot in the coming weeks. Great to see small town France, much different then that in Canada. Biscarrosse altough small in size, is still quite large and self-sufficient. Look forward to getting further acquainted with beach come the summer (did I mention it's on the ocean with a 150km long beach?) . Well in the Landes (region where Biscarrosse is located), I
was also fourtuate enough to go over to Arcachon, a popular beach town for crepes, as well as see Europes highest sand dune,
Le Dune du Pyla. I myself have never been on a large sand dune like that. So incredibly beautiful and interesting. Hope to get back there more. Although I think I still have sand in places I shouldn't mention publicly. Oh yes and I found a cow (don't have much to say about said cow, but without at least mentioning said cow, it would just be a lonley picture of a cow, which would make no sense now would it?)
So as to be expected I guess with such excitment of what the next day will bring, along with the 8 hour time difference, I have had issues sleeping though the night. I have however come familiar with what laying in bed awake at 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, and 5am feels like over here in France. C'est exactement la même! Hoping that I will finally get a good nights rest tonight. If not I will find a bottle of wine tomorrow, that will solve it I'm sure.
Speaking of wine I had hot wine in
Said Cow
could use a haircut... the streets of Bordeaux this evening on my walk around town at dusk. Yum! Also booked my ticket for the next leg of my journey leaving next week! Hint : My destination has a castel. (That narrows it down doesn't it?)
Alright it's getting late now in Bordeaux, and I think I will make my way to bed. Supposed to be +17C with sun tomorrow here in Bordeaux (sorry for those Calgarians currently reading this who are currently having the snowmageddon).
Until next time my friends!

Good blogs Mack! They're going to keep me entertained as I procrastinate excessively from important things :P
