Time be flying! Almost feels like a just wrote the last post. Cannot believe it's been two weeks! Time is really starting to fly over here, heck I wouldn't even be able to tell you what day it is. The last post came from Amsterdam just after the queens day calibrations. Since then I have covered a lot of ground and had a many adventure! From Amsterdam I was headed towards Berlin and after somehow missing two trains, I finally got my stuff together and arrived in the ever changing city before nightfall. After grabbing some grub and meeting people in my hostel, me and a few guys headed out to Dr. Pongs, a ping pong bar in Berlin. Literally a bar where you play ping pong against everyone in the room well chatting and meeting people. ... read more

Howdy folks Been a bit since I last wrote so I figured it was time I got on it. There's a lot to write about so here it goes!Last I wrote I was just heading into Budapest. Since then, I have been to Zurich, Paris, Lille, Bruges, Rotterdam and currently Amsterdam. It's been a crazy two weeks of travel and it's only about to get crazier. Budapest for those of you that have not been is an amazing place. The town has some amazing history and is by far different then the other cities I had previously visited. First things first, it's cheap. Amazingly cheap. And therefore much easier for a traveler to live day to day and save money. My week in Budapest was summed up with meeting some amazing new friends, and enjoying everything ... read more

Day 51 of 146. That leaves 95 more days of adventures! But let's talk about the last 6 days. Last week I was in Rimini Italy, a town located right beside the country of San Marino. Regen and I chose this spot as our base of operations for exploring the mountainous town center. Rimini itself was quite the strange place, being set up as a huge party town for the hoards of summer tourists, (mostly nationals). Pubs were open to 4am as a standard throughout the week, and we definitely got the sense that the whole 'raison d'être' was just to have a crazy party. This being said this is not what we did. We took the bus into another country, San Marino to be exact, which is the oldest republic in the world that is ... read more

(wrote this yesterday, but just got the Internet working!) Buenjourno! What a week it's been. Last I wrote I was in Florence taking an easy day as I was not quiet feeling 100%. I can happily report I got over whatever that was quickly and so enough of that! The day after the last blog post I hopped on a train heading to Rome to go and see Papa Francesco for Easter weekend. Upon arriving in Rome, I met up with some fellow travelers from the previous hostel that just so happened to be staying at the same hostel in Rome. And clarify what I mean by "hostel" I mean campground outside of Rome. This is the result of being cheap and booking late for Easter weekend. (more on this later) First day in Rome was ... read more

Ciao! Hey everyone. Hope all is well where ever you might be at this very moment. I am currently in Florence Italy just having a cill out day as Im feeling a touch sick and needed to laundry (isn't that what everyone drams about doing in Italy?) Alright we're to begin... Once upon a time (last Tuesday) I arrived in Manarola, Cinque Terre Italy. Immediately I was blown away by the beauty and breath taking vistas that the area was home to. I was treated to a beautiful sunset that looks right out if a painting. Beyond amazing. The following day was very very wet. I was beyond happy to have my gortex jacket and shoes. Spent the day touring around three of the 5 villages, Manarola, Riomaggiore and Monterosso. Absolutely stunning landscapes and people to ... read more

Cheerio Okes! (More on that in a bit) Alright. What a week it has been! Last post I had just arrived in Avignon and had been regaling you with stories of finding wine in caves, making Pain Perdue, as well as the odd comment of how beautiful the train ride was. Now that we're caught up, let's begin : Avignon is quite the cool little town. It was once home to the French popes in the 1300s I believe, (I'm bad with history). It therefore has a huge castle which is called popes palace. This castle stands above everything else in old town, and can be seen for quite a distance. The streets of Avignon are windy and plentiful. Had a great first evening wondering around the streets and seeing people out and about enjoying the ... read more

Hey everyone! Time for another instillation of this blog. This past week was a blast. If I remember correctly, last I wrote was on my main tench day just after my weekend in Biscarrosse. What fun that was. I must apologize for the last post as I posted it before saving my final changes, so it had some spelling errors. I promise you this post will have no speling errors whatsoever. So alright. Where to begin. Tuesday I had my first outing if this voyage. I took my rail pass over to Gare St John (Bordeaux train station) and had it activated. Then I hoped on one of the regional trains heading to Bergerac. For those of you that are familiar with the story of Cyrano de Bergerac, this is indeed that Bergerac. This is a ... read more

Alright. Week number one under my belt. Been a week full of adventure, and jet leg. I last left you as I was about to go about on my journey on my first full day in Bordeaux. I have since had many an adventure walking though the streets of downtown Bordeaux. Really is a beautiful city. Lots of old architecture with a common theme through-out. You know you're in Bordeaux. Day one I found the local camera store, and even met a paparatizzi! (who told them I was here?). Trying to keep costs low well in Bordeaux, specially this first few weeks. This being said I was still able to get out and enjoy myself. I bought a bottle of wine, a baugette and some cheese and in total is was all under 5e. Not bad ... read more

Bienvenue! Alright, I have made it to France. Specifically Bordeaux. Had an blast getting here. And thats what I'm going to tell you about. First things first, goodbyes at airports are tough. Enough said. Security in Calgary was a breeze, and I was off to find the waiting lounge. It was very, very crouded, and everyone was speaking German. I guess this was to be expected however for a flight to Frankfurt in Febuary, when most of the travelers were Europeen traveling to Calgary to experience our wonderful outdoor playground that comes alive in the winter months. At this point, I was already starting to feel like a stranger, but hell I was still in Calgary! Flying with Air Canada was oddly comforting as it was a piece of home that was going to stay with ... read more
