So today my host sister and her friends all took me out to Tallinn. For those who don't know, it is the capital of the country I now live in. It was about a two hour drive so that was boring yet once we got there, it was so sweet! It reminded me of America in the 1920s because of the old coca cola signs and the dress-wear in the windows. Then, as the day went on, the old buildings didn't fit the American persona. For lunch, we went to this cafe type place and I ordered this brichete and it was so freakin amazing! It had toasted bread and then garlic flavoured tomatoes! DELICIOUSO!!! That reminded me a little bit of Italy, just the cafe scene and the food. Later, we kept seeing Italians in ... read more

It seems like it would never come yet here it is. Full and total boredem. And let me tell you, the Olympics were never so much fun to watch. Do it at home and it's not NEARLY as much fun as it is in another country. American music seems to be what everybody in Estonia listens to and a bit of German. Can't really remember their names, yet it is good stuff. OH! I play soccer in the back yard with the best player in the world- my host dog named Rex. She goes after apples so I threw it on the ground and started kicking it and she dove after it and that is how I am playing soccer in Estonia!!!... until school starts I guess. I hope to take a dance class after school ... read more

I thought I would try to wait until I had something to talk about- much like a story yet nothing has really come to mind and I know that I have become a somewhat newspaper article-ist\journalis by starting my blog. So here is to all my dedicated fans!!! It is different here. Very different than say, most of New Mexico and most of Arizona... which most of my readers are from. It is so rainy and I freakin love it! Also, I live in the middle of the country side which is also not very different from most of Estonia. My host family speaks English yet I told them that I want them to speak only Estonian because I really want to learn the language and the faster the better. If I am in dire need ... read more

Before we made our 30 minute journey to the bus stop, we enjoyed the breakfast that the very nice owner made for us (we had to leave really early and we told him he didn’t need to worry about our breakfast but he insisted—so nice). Our bus was actually quite small, and ridiculously hot inside during the entire 6 hour ride. The scenery however was beautiful. At one point we passed this field full of yellow flowers. It was amazing. About an hour before we arrived in Tartu we started talking to another girl on the bus. She was Estonian and was actually going to be studying in the States for the fall semester. Before we got off the bus and headed in search of our hostel (apparently the only one in Tartu), we exchanged names ... read more

At the End of October i end up in Estonia for Energy 2007, it is for the first time when i am taking part in a conference organized by 3 countries and i can say it was a great feeling trying to figure out where delegates are from only by listening to their Language. Well it was also hard because the Lithuanian Delegation was making a lot of Noise. AIESEC Vilnius cleaned the house taking all the possible awards in this conference and now they are set to kick the best out of this year, congratz guys and i can say i am really proud to be close to AIESEC Vilnius. Now, the team of facis was very diverse, 2 facis from Slovakia, 2 from Lithuania, 2 from Estonia, 3 from Poland, 1 from Latvia and ... read more

Nothing major has occured over the past few days. The whole flat (with the exception of one neighbor) has kept it pretty low key. Cassie and I have successfully made two dishes as well as making Anya her first PB&J. She said she liked it, but that it was a little sweet for her taste. All is well, though, she said she would eat it again. Last night we made our own version of stroganoff (sp?). We had ground beef and noodles and then made our own sauce which consisted of parmesan cheese, cream, and pepper. It actually turned out a lot better than we anticipated. I think we even impressed Topi, who's in visiting Anya. Then this morning (after making a wet trek) we made pancakes for everyone. We couldn't find any maple syrup here, ... read more

Classes officially started for me this week! I put an exclamation point because being bored in Estonia is as bored as you can get. Classes at least give you something to do for a couple hours as well as something to talk about and dread. Dreading classes is more entertaining than doing nothing, I promise. The first of the week was "History of the EU and Intgegration Theories" which I think I should be able to handle. This was just the introduction day, so not a lot happened and I don't really know what it's going to be like until the next class. All I know is that I have a lot of reading to do (common theme for the rest of my classes as well). Let's see, Tuesday brought "International Relations in the Cold War ... read more

Today was not a bad day. Nothing too adventuresome (sp?) happened. Cassie and I went to the main square for pictures today and received a pleasent little surprise. The whole square was turned into a market. They had everything you would need there. There was everything from fruits and vegetables to hats and scarves to even large rabbits. Cassie and I hoped that they were for pets and not for eating, but let's be honest. . . We picked up a rug for the room, Lord knows it needs some form of color in here besides our bedding. When we came back we had the idea of going to the supermarket for some much needed food, like the beloved Qwex cereal - seriously, one of the best things ever. But that never happened because Cassie was ... read more

Today started off well. Now that we have internet, that means I now have Skype. So, I thought I would try it out with my phone card that Sarah got me (I'm glad it finally came in handy). I called Mom and Dad this morning when I knew they would be awake, because they're nuts and wake up at 5:30. ; ) Mom answered because for some reason she knew it had to be me. It was great to hear their voices! Not going to lie, cried like a little baby. Whatever, I'm thousands of miles away. Do the same thing, then you can mock me. : ) So Skype is officially my new best friend. It's pretty darn cool and free between users - hint, hint to anyone with a headset and free time. After ... read more

So let's see. . . I still don't have any courses. I went and spoke with the woman in charge of the ISEP students to see if she could help me at all. She's a sweet woman, but not very much help at all. She told me that I would have to go to my faculty's dean's office. Ugh. It looks like I'll be heading there tomorrow after I get my picture taken in town (which I need for my UT card that I have to also get in the dean's office). One plus with Bellarmine is that they know how to get people settled away. These people are more for the "fend for yourself" philosophy, or maybe it's just a not-so-subtle way of making us independent. Every day I am meeting someone new as well ... read more
