The spirit of the Danish can be summarized in one word: "hygge". The closest translation in English would be "cosy" and one of the cosiest places I have already visited in Denmark is Fyns Hoved. It's a small peninsula in the north of Funen. To get there, you first drive past Kerteminde, a pretty coastal town and then through some small villages and lush orchards. It's very idyllic, especially in spring and summer.

Fyns Hoved is actually a small place. On one side of the peninsula is a small harbour for small yachts and on the other side some narrow sandy beaches, an ideal place for a picnic! There are some summer houses here, but we didn't find any pubs or restaurants. But if you love beautiful landscapes, the place is worth a short visit.

If you don't like crowded beaches, it could be interesting to explore the villages that are located to the south of Fyns Hoved. Some of them give access to beautiful, secluded beaches, that are not always sandy by the way.

By the way, if you want to see more pictures, you can go to http://cosytravels.blogspot.com .
