We spent the morning exploring Odense, and got to see the Hans Christian Andersen museum as well as his childhood house (or at least what they suppose was his childhood dwelling even though no one is sure). There was an outdoor market in the town, and we saw the biggest oranges in the world! We left in the morning to head down to Svendborg to take a ferry to Aero, and we stopped along the way to look at Egeskov Slot. It was a very elegant castle that is actually inhabited, but they mark those rooms private and show the rest. Once we got to Svendborg, I decided it looked like a place we could stay for the night since the ferry was ridiculously expensive. The hotel that our guidebook recommended was all booked up, so they booked us at their sister hotel, Hotel Garni, on the harbor. It was a very loud night, and Mom thinks there was a bus stop below our window. We had lunch at the Cafe Citronen and it was so big that we just had ice cream for dinner. It was perfect, if you ask me.
