Kids and amusement parks work well, even in the rain. M.. drove up from Kiel with J.. and J... E.. was under the weather, so N.. went with W.. from Copenhagen by train. Our Danish friends had not considered Legoland as a day trip. It's only 3 hours by train from Copenagen each way. A day trip means no luggage to haul, and consequently no worries about securing the luggage, finding hotels, booking in, etc. So, day trip it was. We left our Copenhagen apartment at 05:45 to catch the S-tog to Copenhagen for a 06:50 connection to Vejle and then by bus to Legoland in Billund. The Danish Railway DSB website had said there was a 6 minute walk from the Vejle station to the bus connection in the town center. Turns out the bus ... read more

We had a plan. We reckon that it was as well-considered and reasonable as possible, given the scope and nature of the project. Traveling around the world, and in the way that we are doing it, requires management of many variables, some of which are definitely going to be a surprise when they arise. We knew that there would be countries that would be cheaper than others and we set our budget to take this into proper account. We also knew that Europe would be up with the most expensive places and that countries like Vietnam and India should be a help. All of that and it was still just a bit of a surprise to hit Denmark. The budget has been tracking along pretty well. No major dramas. Carpet-related dilemmas were neatly quarantined in a ... read more

Hej Everybody! SO, recently i have been busy with many things! In this past month i have been visiting my friend Brittany(from New Mexico), she has been visiting me a couple of times, I have gone to Legoland with a buncho of exchange students, AND i just found out that i am going on the Euro Tour! =) Over the easter break was the firs time i went to visit my friend Brittany, she lives in Grenå. I spent a few days there with her and her family just hanging out and relaxing. One of the nights i was there, we met up with Mathilde (an inbound in Rio Rancho last year). It was my first time seeing her here and it was a lot of fun. On easter a lot of Birttany's host parent's family ... read more

My gosh things have been crazy. Tomorrow is Easter so we've been on easter holiday all week (Påske Ferie). Catherine og Josephine, my host mum and eldest host sister, went to Rome on a trip and I went to Odense, on Fyn, to visit friends. In Odense, I stayed with Caity, one of my best friends here. She's from Sydney and an absolutely gorgeous girl. Naomi, another Sydney-sider who is staying in West Jylland also came over for the week. We partied a lot at James Dean, a pub in Odense, with the Americans Scott and Marshall. Ryan L from Canada also came over to Odense for a couple of days. It was a very emotional week. There were a lot of laughs and we had a great time mostly, but towards the end there were ... read more

Hi Everybody! Well two weekends ago, i finally moved into my last famaily, and still can't believe how fast it has gone by. I moved in on a Sunday afternoon, which was followed by a long week of school, so i never really got to start bonding with my family. When the second weekend finally arrived i had to leave right away for the last get together with all of the exchange students. We all knew that this weekend would be really sad because it was the last time we would all see eachother again, with the exception of the few. When we all arrived on Friday, it was just a hang out day and getting eveyone arranged in their rooms, which takes a couple of hours when there are about 150 of us loud excited ... read more

Last weekend, I went to Jylland with the other 150 exchange students in Danmark for a "G2G" (get together). It was without doubt one of the best weekends I've had since I've been here! After travelling for four hours by train across Danmark, we arrived in Randers, in Jylland. It was fantastic to see all the people not in the Copenhagen area! Later that night after we had unpacked our bags and set up our beds (in my case, scrounged around for pillows cos i forgot to bring something to sleep on... sick one kate), we had dinner and then did karaoke. I, along with some other Aussies, teared up the stage with Land Down Under, then burned up the dancefloor to other people's fantastic singing. After karaoke Prue, Amy and I kicked Marshall and Scott's ... read more

i just got back from intro camp, so thought i should tell you how it was! the week was, in one word, amazing. it was so so good to meet other exchange students who are in the same position as me and it was crazy how quickly you become friends with people. everyone is so open to meeting people on exchange, and it makes it very easy to find people you 'click' with. i experienced this alot on camp, meeting other exchangies mainly from australia and new zealand (but also some from brasil, argentina and south africa) who by the end of the week, i felt like id known for years. a typical day on the camp would involve breakfast between 8am and 830am (or for people like me, rocking up to brekkie at 8.28), before ... read more

Warning: This joint blog contains an obscene number of personal jokes and sexual connotations. Parental guidance is recommended for persons under 15 years of age. Time for an update! Kate and Elisa are on intro camp this week, just chilling and junk. They got to Aarhus yesterday (Sunday) via train from Copenhagen. There, they met up with their Perth buddy Adam ‘the lad’ Spight. Around fifty other exchange students (mostly from Australia and Brazil) are also at the camp. Every day this week they will have 6 hours of Danish lessons. The rest of the time is spent hanging with the bitches in the lad pad and re-enacting High School Musical. Yesterday they had a tour of the school, as well as introductory assemblies. After dinner they enjoyed a sing-along in the lounge with Levi playing ... read more
