Dear All Greetings once more, my second of three blog entries on my lovely little trip to Denmark, reporting this time on my second full day there, on the Tuesday. After a full day exploring the tourist sights of Copenhagen, along with many other international tourists, I felt that on my second day I wanted to explore more provincial tourist attractions, hopefully more off-the-beaten track. Whoever coined the phrase 'Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen' certainly felt the sentiment of those who have visited the capital city of Denmark, and having been lucky enough to visit it for probably the 30th time on this trip I still never tire of it. Copenhagen is as close to living nirvana as you're likely to find anywhere on the planet, and if you could just throw in a little more of an ambient temperature (never satisfied....) then I think you'd have arrived. Copenhagen exudes confidence and style and it is very happy with itself, as are the Danes. You will never here a Dane talk about moving to another country because they think the grass will be greener, in fact you are more likely to here the opposite, most Danes will look at you with confused curiosity ... read more

Time to get out of the city today. It is our first completely free day on our 3+ weeks of tour. Copenhagen has redeemed itself after the rubbish of the first day but we are a bit over the crowds, the dust and the heat. Having said that it is cooler and much more pleasant today. We jump on a local suburban train at Vesterbro station. Every ticket selling machine is broken which isn't a very good sign. We jump off at the next station because we have to change to another line (and get a ticket). The on-platform 7 eleven sells tickets and a 24 hour pass costs just under $20. On to a suburban train to the end of the line at Klampenborg; then onto to a regional train to Helsingor. 50km in about ... read more
