Ahoy!!
Me and Hawk cruisin' the moats and rivers through Cesky Krumlov. As we arrived in the outskirts of Prague we decided to stop for gas before the inner city prices kicked in. We pulled off about 2 or 3 off ramps in order to get to a gas station. After filling up... well we drove for about another hour or more in circles, on about 6 or more different highways that all seemed to lead out of or just around Prague. Finally after driving on the same street about 4 times we came to an area that was within the bounds of our little Prague city map. Navigating through one way streets we arrived at out hostel about another 30 or so minutes later.
Prague... cool city. Lots to do I think, but I was just getting a little tired of walking through city streets and taking pictures of squares and what not. So we just headed to the main square that was closest to our hostel and sat down on a patio and started drinking Budweiser but not the Budweiser your thinking of... Czech Budweiser, very different but very good.
So after drinking all afternoon, we headed off to some Czech Rock bar for a few more and to
Absinthe
So strong, and yet the taste does grow on you... it was calling for me by the end of the night. eat dinner. Later we went out to what Hawk informs me is the largest club in Central Europe... although I'm not really sure what counts as Central Europe. The club was massive none the less, as it had 5 floors, each with different genres of music and the top level being a chill out room with bean bag chairs of which Hawk would get lost in later that night. Arriving back at the hostel in the early hours of the morning (7AM), we slept all day and woke that evening ready for the hostel's end of summer party.
This party included free buffet and cheap drinks at the hostel bar. As the hours past people started to head out to downtown and where did we end up... the biggest club in Central Europe, again. Basically the same thing happened as the previous night, but when it closed at 7AM I was alone, trying to direct a taxi home I eventually arrived to find Kennah asleep in bed but no sign of the Hawk. Not ready for sleep I opened the bedroom door to explore and to my suprise a Hawk flew in. With him just as awake as me,
Cesky Krumlov Pano
A panoramic version of my beautiful Cesky Krumlov shot. we decided to give the hostel receptionist some presents, such as 2 fire extinguishers which were hanging by the wall. Needless to say he wasn't impressed and security had to ask us to put them back. As we returned our gifts we heard music coming from downstairs. We headed down to explore only to find a massive white gate preventing our entry into the pool and sauna area. After Hawk's failed attempt to pry the gate open with a ironing board, we began to wiggle the gate harder and harder... then to our suprise the gate flew open and we ran for the water. There is nothing like an early morning swim to start the day and then I awoke in the sauna at 10AM by myself and slowly crawled my way back to my room.
The next morning we headed to a little town called Cesky Krumlov. About 3 hours South of Prague, Cesky Krumlov is breathtaking. It's cobble stoned lanes, medieval bridges, huge stone castles built into the moutain sides and high rising centuries old churches, its one of the most peacful and most beautiful little towns I have ever been to. The streets were lined with
The Challenged Knight
I don't think they should have given me a sword. hotels, pubs and restaurants. Nothing else, this town was dedicated to tourism and thankfully we went there during the end of summer and hence it was quiet and not nearly as busy as it would have been in mid summer.
On our full day there, we rented a boat and bought some beers and drank while we floated down the rivers and moats of the town. That evening Hawk decided to buy some cheap wooden swords and shields so we could act out various knights and wizards scenes of his imagination.
After an enjoyable couple of nights of relaxing in that little town, we loaded up and made our way through Austria, in to Hungary and eventually the city of Budapest.
