Hey Everyone,
So I know its taken me forever to get this out, but this is the first time since Kelly and I have split off from her family (sooo sad) that I have had a chance to get to a computer for more than 10 minutes haha. In a nut shell the trip has been amazing so far. Getting to Milan in the beginning was a bit of a challenge as we missed our last leg of the flight in, buuuut we managed to connect with Kelly's parents before they took off without us. Our first stop was Bellagio Italy, near Lake Como and it was gorgeous, picture perfect little streets and friendly locals. Kelly's mom kept an eye out for George Clooney but apparently we just missed him, as he came in the day before but then took off again. We picked up Kelly's sister and her boyfriend at the airport and next we headed off to an area near Portofino, Italy and as you can see from the picture, it's a beautiful little harbor town. Kelly and I tried to talk our way onto one of the huge yachts that was docked there but alas were unsuccessful 😞.
We all piled into our 9 passenger (stick shift) van and headed what we thought was short trip to our next destination, Porto di Romanga. Three hours later, up an insanely winding road through the vineyards and mountains of Tuscany, we arrived at our hotel which doubles as a culinary school. Lucky for us, they were having a party the night we arrived so we got to dance the night away with the locals, including 80 year old men who liked to spin is in circles for hours. From this location, we went wine tasting at three vineyards one day trying at least ten different types of Sangiovese wine along the way (Anthony you would have loved it ;D) and headed to Raffallo, Italy which is famous for its mosaics. Our next destination was Venice, where we were lucky to catch the celebration surrounding the unveiling of a clock that apparently had been unconstruction for the last 5-10 years, and got to see fire throwers and crazy wall scaling dancers. The next day we got onto the cruise boat and settled in for a relaxing week. Our first day, was at sea so we braved the crazy winds in the
top deck in an effort to get some sun, gorged ourselves on the excellent food at dinner, and then danced the night away at the roof top disco where we met our favorite Floridians Winston and Nick and Michigonians Tim and Nate. The next day we docked in Athens and explored the Acropolis, which was a beautiful as I remembered, although muuuuuuuch hotter this time around. The next day we docked in Mykonos, Greece and spent the day lounging beachside in the sun and exploring the whitewashed streets and alleys. Our last stop in Greece was Rhodes, where we explored lots of castles and enjoyed big beers and Greek salads in the sun, heaven for me the veggie lol. After another day at sea, eating more and napping more, we docked in Doubravnik, Croatia. The walled city part of the town was beautiful, and we walked around it along the the top of the wall, but sadly right as we got off the wall it started to pour rain so we headed over to the buses, and literally had to fight our way onto the buses to get back, but we made it in one piece. The cruise ended back
in Venice, where we spent a few more days wandering the city, drinking coffee in San Marco square, where Kelly was lucky to have a pigeon poop in her cafe latte, thankfully the waiter brought her a new "cafe latte, no pigeon." We met up with our favorite Floridians one last time in Venice and spent a ridiculous day taking a boat down the Grand Canal among all the kayakers in tour for a race. Our last day, Kelly and I had to say goodbye to the rest of the family, which was very sad, however our excitement to start the new leg of the trip helped us out. And on that note, I am off. Next email will include all the most recents events from our adventures on our own. Hope all is well at home and miss you all!
Ciao!!!!
PS: We have a cell phone that receives incoming calls for free so here is the number that you can call from the US, if anyone decides they just miss us too much and want to hear our beautiful voices haha jk.
