Can you believe these pictures are all taken inside the Prague city limits? Is there any other city where I am within half a mile of a major street and yet feel as if I am standing in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia? There may be another city with such a vista, but if there is I do not know where it is. Though there is a major street within half a mile of this spot the only sounds heard are the sounds of nature. The Sarka Valley can be seen snaking its way between the two mountains. It was up this valley that the 53rd Russian Tank Division used to hide from the Germans when they liberated Prague. The German plan was to destroy Prague as they retreated from the city. Fortunately the Russians arrived two days before the plan was to be carried out.
