We finished our last story with no doubt further adventures, well there certainly were. We said Good Bye to the friendly staff at the Stil Hotel, that looked so well after us and continued, now with the help of our Tom Tom that we took out of the suitcase thinking we would not need this, but at the last moment we packed it anyway. Good thinking. It soon took us to the Toll way and direction Zagreb- Split. Not that far and we approached the Croatian border, we did go through a few Toll control station but they were all unmanned and we drove straight through that. We really not used to paying toll Anyway we were stopped on the Slovenian side by a friendly person who asked us something we did not understand. We asked if he wanted money but he said no. Than we gave him the Passports, that he took but also asked in English that time about a ticket for the Toll way. Of course we did not have one. Something dawned on us that we should have bought one at the border. The Man was so friendly to direct us to a place where we could buy one. Meantime we had to park somewhere in the middle and wait till all this was done. You have to pay for ten days, you cannot pay for one day. We thought that was the end of it but no this was just out of Slovenia, now we had to go to the Croatian side. Again stopped, this time by not such a friendly person. With a very deep voice he shouted Passports. We looked at each other in amazement, maybe he thought we came there to rob a bank. We gave the Passports and he looked through it, looked again at us and said, why we were there. We told him to see his beautiful country. That answer cracked his face a little and a small smile appeared. On returning the Passport he said something like Welcome. We asked any more to pay? He pointed over his shoulder to some form of control point. Arriving there a young man asked whereto? Split we said. He than roared with a smirk on his face towards some other men and gave us a ticket. We debated if that meant that we would have to dig deep at the other end but looking at the mountains in front of us we thought that was just an other cost we had to have. But to our surprise that whole road right through cost 157 kuna which is 22.50 euro which is $30.-Apart from our usual water curtain which seems to follow us we arrived at our b & b the Pink Inn where the reception was ever-so friendly. Mama greeted us and there was an instant rapport. We had a choice between just a room and ensuite or an apartment which was up two set of stairs. The decision was up up and it is lovely .We overlook the Mediterranean which is absolutely amazing. We will later go into the old city of Split to have a look there. Bye for now Liz & Allan
