We were on the bus at 9 this morning for the one hour drive to Krka National Park. It was a lovely drive where we got to see a bit more if the Croatian countryside while Melinda told us lots of information about the country. When we arrived in the National Park, we walked with Melinda down through various sightseeing spots to the area facing the main waterfalls. To be honest, there are waterfalls everywhere you look but the ones at the bottom are the most spectacular. They have done a fabulous job of building paths and boardwalks so that you can experience this park from many different angles. This is another place that I will let the photos do the talking. We had quite a bit of free time here to explore and walk different paths and also to have some lunch. After checking out the area near where Melinda left us, I decided to grab something to eat. Melinda had said to just have a light lunch as this afternoon we were heading to a winery for tastings and they would also serve canapes. I had the meat soup, which was very nice. After eating I walked the longer
trail that would take me back up to the top. Wow, it was so amazing as for most of the way, you were actually walking over the top of flowing water that was either leading into a waterfall or into a lake type area. Truly spectacular! Once I got closer to the top I walked through the little mill village which showed how they used to use he water to mill the grain.
Once we were back on the bus, it was time to head to our winery. We were very lucky as the winery we were going to is one of Croatia's most famous wineries - Bibich winery. This is because Anthony Boudain introduced the Bibich on his show which created a huge following. We tasted 4 of their wines and enjoyed the delicious food that had been prepared by the winemakers wife, who is also a chef. Very fancy!
After everyone was finished purchasing the wines we jumped back on the bus for our trip back to Trogir. Along the way Melinda got us all to introduce ourselves and tell a little bit about ourselves. It was a nice way to get to know everyone a
bit more. Once we were back in Trogir we had some free time. Tonight there was no planned dinner so everyone could do their own thing. Kim and Don and I made arrangements to meet up at 6:45 to venture out for something to eat and we asked Melinda if she would like to join us.
Just as the four of us started to head out to dinner, a few drops of rain fell. What the! Anyway, we all decided not to worry about it as it was only a 5 minute walk to the restaurant. This restaurant, Trs, was recommended by Melinda and it didn't disappoint. She had the black risotto (which the area is famous for), I had a tagliatelle with stops if beef and vegetables in a tomatoes sauce, Son and the lamb chops and Kim had the local dish called Pasticada (beef stew). We all loved what we had ordered and was very satisfied with a meal. We sat in our vine covered courtyard and luckily, it also had an awning above the vines because the rain bucketed down! It started to leak in various spots in the restaurant, so much so that we laughed
when the waiters would come out to serve a dish under an umbrella! We stopped laughing however, when we realised the rain wasn't letting up by the time we finished our meal. Rain...... I cannot tell you how long it has been since I saw rain! Anyway, we decided to make a dash for it. Melinda was staying in a hotel very close so she rushed off but the three of us managed to get soaked as we ran from awning to awning, stepping in big puddles along the way! We eventually made it back to the hotel, not without getting slightly lost as every alleyway started to look like the last one. Needless to say, we were soaked when we got back. Haha, fun times!
