Dear All Greetings again! I believe I last left off having just arrived back from the stark island of Sark, after an amazing two days of rural, island explorations. My third day of my trip was my first full day of explorations this time on the comparatively much larger island of Guernsey. I had two full days, and decided to split the island in two – on my first day I’d explore the south and w... Read Full Entry

Off Season travel
Sorry so many interesting sights were closed but sounds like you had a fantastic time anyway. Will you go back? I loved hearing about the coppersmith. I loved the history and hearing about the occupation. I'm also drawn to monasteries. I must say even the bus ride sounded nice. What a terrific trip.

Off Season Travel
Ah, no worries, I had a very enjoyable time anyway, despite many things being closed. I particularly loved the feeling that I had the place to myself, a feeling of undiscovered exploration! I doubt I will go back, there are so many other places to see...!! Thank you for reading Merry ?

Lovely Writeup!
Your enthusiasm for seeing the beautiful in Guernsey's natural landscape made a wonderful impression of the island in my mind. Of course, seeing it through your wonderful photos really brought it to life. Of course I'd heard of Guernsey, but reading the fictional "Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" did add some information concerning the German occupation of the island. I had no idea there was a megalithic tomb/dolmen there! It looks like a charming island I'd want to visit given the opportunity -- I'd especially like to see it in summer!

Thank you ?
Aw, thank you for your very encouraging comment ? Indeed, I found the unassuming beauty of Guernsey's natural environment to be one of its main drawcards. The book you mentioned is actually quite an important tourism focus there, I believe you can do a tour on the island of the main places mentioned in the book/film. I imagine the island is also beautiful (and less wet and windy!) to visit in the summer too ?
