On our way back home we stopped at Westvleteren. This is the home of the lovely monks who brew a very good beer. This beverage is not available to the average human. Technically you can only buy it at the abbey (although you can find it but it is extremely expensive). This is not mass produced by any means. A couple of years ago they were named the best beer in the world. This did not make the monks happy so they stopped brewing. The abbey is not open to the public but there is a pub across the street where you can sit and enjoy. They also sell other products from the abbey including cheese, soaps, oils, etc. Great place and you can buy the beer to take away. They make a 6 (blond), an 8 and a 12. Of course the most coveted is the 12. They didn't have any 12 but they did have the 6 and 8 so we bought a dozen of the 8...... for those who can appreciate, it was only 2 euro per bottle. Dang!!!
Now back home. Take care all. We miss you!
