Well, we made it across the ditch! Yesterday we spent the day exploring Portsmouth. Had a one on one tour of the Cathedral and wandered the old town. As this is where my Grandmother was born, it was great to feel the connection to the place. We then headed to Brighton and walked the pier before heading to our campsite just outside Hastings. Yesterdays weather was foggy and cold, although a little clearer when you were closer to the coast. The mist seemed to invade our bones by the end of the day so we were a little cold. The van is very cosy though when you are tucked up inside. We managed to do another load of washing before we left blogger and set off this morning for Europe. We drove to Folkstone, and bought our ticKet for the channel tunnel. As it's another foggy day, we figured we would take the tunnel over and the ferry back because we wouldnt see anything anyway! It's amazing to think that you travel right under the English Channel in half an hour! Then the excitement began! Driving on the right hand side of the road! OMG, OMG, OMG!!! We set Dorothy onto the task of helping us find our way and on the motorways she was fine, but when she tries to send you down roads that are closed, it can be a little hair raising to say the least. Dean was fantastic! I'm not sure how I will be when it's my turn to drive! Dorothy did come through in the end and we managed to get to our campground outside Brugge safe and sound. It's a 30 minute walk to the centre of town but it has been good to stretch the legs and we have found a little Belgium pub to have a hot chocolate and a beer in. Belgium is as I remember it 4 years ago in January...grey and gloomy. I think it may be a little bit greener in March though but it's just as cold! I'll let Dean add a bit as he may have a different slant on the driving, but I think it starts with 'f' and rhymes with 'duck'. Love to all.xxx
