Our visit to Bruges was a day trip out from Brussels. The Globus tour bus let us off at the Bargeplein coach park. Unlike similar facilities to enable the touring of city centers, this one is in a very attractive park-like setting and within walking distance of the historic center. "Monument to Jan Breidel and Pieter de Conine, guild-masters and leaders of the citizens of Bruges at the 'Bruges Matins', or massacre of the French garrison on 18th May, 1302, and in the 'Battle of the Spurs' at Courtrai. Historium Bruges

Historium Bruges. The museum is an adaptive reuse amalgamating the Neogothic Administration Building of 1910-1914 (left), the Provincial Court (Provinciaal Hof), and the Post Office of 1892 (right). Markt 1. "On the E. side of the market-place are the new Government Buildings, occupying the site of the old Cloth Hall, pulled down in 1787. Adjoining is the Post and Telegraph Office, completed in 1891, the upper story of which contains the Municipal Archives (fee for consultation, 2 1/2 fr. per day). Both these buildings are in the Gothic style, the former in hewn stone, the latter in brick with sandstone adornments".--Baedeker 1910. DSC_0048
