so
here we are
we made it to belgium in one piece
just got in from meeting emily's friends for a few belgian beers
id also like to add we haven't been to sleep yet, so bear with us...
April 1st was a frantic day filled with tying together loose ends
of which we had way more then i can believe
thank god for kathy- our patient taxi driver
we did somehow manage to accomplish everything on the list with only a few minor set backs
one day our procrastination will get the best of us but until then looks like we'll keep at it
kate and lisa came with us for our ride to the airport
our last stop at Tim's
and to see us off at the gates 😊
the plane ride itself was okay.. kinda long..
but we did meet this super sweet flight attendant
who snuck us some first class pasta for dinner when they didn't have anything veggie for us to eat
he even later brought us some delicious ice cream and berries when we were randomly still awake in the middle of the night
our first challenge was getting from the airport in frankfurt to our destination here in brussels
air canada thought that it would be funny not to include a gate number on either of our tickets
so we looked on the ticket for anything resembling a gate number
but ended up lost in the airport
best part of it all was we only had an hour between flights
eventually we tracked down people who knew people and discovered the sacred gate number
A34
but once we had the gate number it was an adventure in itself to track down the actual location...
down this elevator
up these stairs
and around a million and one corners..
but we made it..
all at a slight jog i should add
we managed to get there even before they had begun to load any passengers at all!
from there, once we landed in brussels we tracked down our packs
got our eurail passes verified
and after many questions and schedule checking
and re checking
found our way to emily's town- Ottignies
and met up with her
it was good to catch up and feel a sense of relief amongst the exhausted jet legged panic
we each had a nice shower, dinner and near death experience on the bike ride over to meet her friends
and the best part was that i was most lethal with the damn thing before i even managed to get on it..
bike riding has never been a strong suit of mine
but once again, we lived to tell the tale
so tomorrow emily is taking us on a nice tour of the town
she is then leaving for the mountains
and our plan is to continue on to brussels to see the capital for the day
so that's all for now
hope you are all doing well back home
and we'll try and write again soon
