The German Language

German is a fun language, because you can invent any word you want, and everyone will understand you. You combine several words together, and it creates a new one. Thus, you see words like Schifffart, which has 3 f's, which is probably something you've never seen in English, huh?

I think he was shooting for Sloppy? There was also not a beach in sight. You can see a tiny bit of our flag, though, right above the roof under the British flag.

This is a cafe in the city Bad Ischl, where the Kaiser had a summer villa. The last Kaiserin [empress] of Austria was Elisabeth, who is to this day worshipped by the Austrians. Her nickname in German was Sisi. They apparently tried to translate that into English, utterly failing.

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!. Absolutely spectacular pictures. I am with the rest sooo jealous. The house trees are called espaliering, which is a form of pruning so that the leaves and fruit or flowers are only on the front side. Very intricate but beautiful to look at........Love ya, Nanny
