i forgot to 'borrow' one Hmmm me thinks my sleep patterns are all screwed up, it’s like 5 in the morning and we just got home culturally spent weekend in guanajuato. Which I’m glad we I got to see more thoroughly after the first 10 hours of being there for independence weekend.
Did the majority of the typical tourist things, allocated more dinero for this trip, as I knew I wasn’t coming back for a while yet.
The most exciting thing? - seeing Black Grace on the timetable, a contemporary dance company from NEW ZEALAND - so I ventured out to see how much the tickets were, etc and it turned out it was in a different town, my expectations and excitement sent me crashing down again… ☹ sigh
The oddest thing? - being inside a Mexican catholic church in a evening service and distinctively hearing the sound of bag-pipes from the courtyard in front.
The yummiest thing? - Everything, lol…. (you know I’ve gained 7 kgs since I’ve been here, story of the week) anyways either the pina-colada in a plastic bag with a straw, or the shrimp soup, seafood in Mexico, we’ll see if I live to see tomorrow 😉
The strangest entertaining
quichao - spanish classmates
who knew that when it rains out in Monterrey, uni get's cancelled. Oh the torture of playing games instead of going to class thing? The museum of the Mummies, where it features a pregnant mummy, obese mummy & the world’s smallest mummy.
Did you know? First remains were dug up in 1865 to make rooms for more bodies, what they found were not skeletons but flesh mummified with grotesque forms. Something to do with the mineral content of the soil and atmosphere to be able to preserve the bodies in this unique way. Space is still tight in the cemetery, bodies continue to be exhumed if relatives can’t afford to pay the fees. It takes 5/6 years for a body to become mummified here, but only 1%! (MISSING)%!a(MISSING)re of ‘display quality’ Lonely Planet 2004, Guanajuato State - Guanajuato - Museo de las Momias. p.609
The artiest experience - most would say the Diego Rivera house (Husband of Freda Khalo) , both famouse Mexican artists, which was impressive, but has anyone seen those street artists that use spray paint and paper with a sheen? (Ann Na has!) well watching the dude create something totally original for difficult Jade about the cerventino 2005, and being able to film it to. Ooh and it was like MX$35 (NZ$5) a steal really…
Anyways the sun’s risen, well there’s light outside anyways, i’ll attempt to do some washing and then head out for some breakfast tacos. I’ll see you chickens soon, only a month and a half til school is over. And I mean it, it really is like high school. jaja
