We had a sleep in today till about 9am which was nice. We were all really disappointed with Ometepe actually. It had been massively talked up but a few diff people and a few Canadians we met on the volcano hike actually said it was their fav place they have been in the whole 10 months they had been here! There is nothing here at all. There is 3 restaurants and one of them is our hotel, one is the vege place we tried yest and werent massive fans of! So, today everyone decided just to sleep in and then have a chilled out day. Our hotel was on the lakefront though and Lake Nicaragua was so so massive that it just looked like the beach. There is just millions of thousands of midges and flys absolutely everywhere though and it is driving people slightly loopy!! Anywho...we got up this amd and just threw some clothes on and went down to the restaurant for breakie and had pancakes for me and oatmeal for be. Wasnt too bad. Once filled up we went back to the room and I climbed back into bed. I have been feeling rotten in the last few
days with a cough and sore throat which had kinda turned into a head cold so was pleased we were having a relaxed day. I did however put my morning bed time to use and typed up a blog just to keep all you people updated 😊
We eventually got up, showered and changed into our togs, sunscreened up and made our way down to the beach and OMG it was soooo hot! The sand was piping hot and you literally could not walk on it without jandals. I tried and scalded my feet! Actually – no exaggeration! 😊 Ben grabbed a very uncomfortable seat in the sun to work on his 'base' and lasted 1.5 hours and I lay on the sand in the sun for a max of 10 mins and it was just unbearably hot I found shade! After another 10mins of shade on the beach even that was too hot so I ventured up near our room under cover and lay in a hammock and read. We have started the Clifton Chronicles for all my whanau who got us started on it! We then had some lunch at our restauarant again (we are beecoming very
familiar with the menu) and then skyped home – well tried! The internet was shocking and so we managed to talk to Bens parents, Bec and the girls which was really nice, but then had a bit of a fail with my family! Sorry guys!
We decided to venture out of our hotel after skyping, see if we could see anymore monkeys and get some snacks for tomorrows massive long travel day. No monkeys 😞 We were just super lucky yesterday I think! Right place right time! They were so cool! We grabbed some snacks and then headed back to the hotel, showered and got ready for yet another meal! My dinner was terrible but Ben reckons his was ok. Ben was getting so hooked on his book that he went to bed at about 8pm and I stayed up and learnt how to play Spades with about 6 of the rest of our group. Despite coughing like crazy and building up a substantial pile of used tissues in my corner (too much info?!) I was a card shark!! There are 14 rounds and I lead every round and ended up winning!! It was amazing! I liiike this game!
😊 After keeping that score sheet safe in my kindle as a reminder of the one time I was a card legend, we had an earlyish night as we have to be up at 4.15am tomo for our trip to San Jose!! Noooooo! We enjoyed our relaxing day today but were disappointed with the island a bit but think it was just cos it was so talked up!

It was good to be able to Skype the other day even though it was under difficult circumstances with the picture freezing etc. it was good to hear you have arrived at your next destination. Our "Indian Summer" has come to a sudden end after being in shorts at the weekend it's back to all our winter gear now, we have had over 50mm of good rain as everything was very dry. Hope you have shaken off your cold by now Rach Hear again from you both soon, Love Mum and Dad
