Update... There were just under 600 photos taken in the weeks leading up to the wedding, the wedding, and after.... this is a SMALL VERY SMALL selection. Enjoy! I do not even know where to start! It's Wednesday morning. Mom Dad and Ben just left for the airport. Cassi and LB left the morning after the wedding and Liz left yesterday morning. So now all that are left of the eight are Kristy and Arielle. The wedding was awesome and went smoothly. I don't even know how to describe. Mother´s Day in Nicaragua is May 30. Mamita´s oldest daughter came to visit. Only Lenin´s dad and his aunt Chila live outside of Moropoto. Not much else to say. Teaching English. Working on clothing, feelings, and describing people. Am behind schedule, but that´s okay. Sometimes I´m not in town, sometimes there´s no school, and sometimes I just don´t go to class. Like when it´s downpouring. Most of the kids don´t go then, either. Monday June 14 should be getting civilly married. I need black sandals.... read more

Well, we are fully in the rainy season here in Madriz. Everyone is out planting. There are teams and teams of bulls yoked together plowing fields. On the hills where the bulls cannot get to, teams of men with long sticks make holes in the ground and throw the seeds in. In Nicaragua, there are two planting seasons... three in places with a lot of rain. Here people plant the ¨primera¨now at the end of May. Most everyone is planting beans and some corn. Then, in about August-Sept they will plant again, the ¨postera¨when they will plant more beans, but also maisillo-sorgo-millet. This is usually used for animal feed, though tortillas of half millet and half corn are made, too. Now is mostly beans and corn, though. Mostly red beans, though some black beans, too. To get married in Nicaragua you have to be civilly married and have the marriage certificate presented to the pastor or padre in order to be married in a church. To be civilly married you can be married in the courthouse by a judge or by a lawyer wit the power to marry. In our case, we are using the judge in our municipality. In order to get married, you have to be single. Or divorced or a widow(er). In any case, if you’ve never been married before, you have to have a carta de solteria, or a singleness letter. For Nicaraguans, this is standard stuff. There’s a form that can be picked up, filled out, etc. For me, it’s an issue. 25 April 2010 Sunday 6:40 PM Been a while since I wrote on my computer. Last night Lenin and I were looking through all the photos from March and April of this year. A lot of stuff has happened in these two months! March was dominated by our trip to Wiwili to visit with my in laws. I did both my own and Lenin’s laundry while we were out there, and I have continued to wash both since we’ve returned. March also brought Semana Santa, in which Lenin worked days and nights on end and Kristy and Jader visited Moropoto. The boys of Moropoto organized the soccer games on Wednesdays, too.
