Another place of interest is a lagoon on the north coast of Jamaica called Glistening Waters. There is a restaurant out front but you would pass it and not notice this jewel of a location. Between Ocho Rios and Discovery Bay the lagoon has phospholuminescent plankton and at night you if you throw pebbles it trails to the bottom with light and you can see the fish darting about underneath. You can rent row-boats to go out on it an when we went on a clear night it was as if you were suspended in space because of all the clear stars above reflected on the water and the light from the boat splashing and fish. This was my very first trip to Jamaica and boy was I in heaven! My now husband, then fiance' took me to Jamaica to join he and his brother Mark as well as his girlfriend, now wife in Jamaica for some pure relaxation and some great fun. My husband hired a travel agent who booked our flight on Delta Airlines from Kansas City to Atlanta...and Atlanta to Montego Bay Jamaica. The flight went well and as soon as we landed, someone grabbed our bags without permission. I told my husband that someone was stealing our bags so my husband (who is 6'0" and very much in shape) asked the Jamaican native what he was doing. Geo: 18.3083, -78.3333Just wanted to get this on my marker but seriously, Montego Bay, Jamaica was beautiful and Negril was "just okay" but the a**hole I was in Jamaica with was pathetic. Young & Stupid I 'twas! The interesting memories from this trip include the gigantic hole in the wall of the airport when we arrived, the ganja that was freely offered to anyone willing to pay, the natural hot tubs created in the rocks by the water on the east side shore of our resort's beach, and the general extremely slow pace of... well... everything here on this obviously laid-back island.... read more
