Frederico, our Canterbury travel companion!
Hi all...hope your gald to see we have finally got some photos up!! Thought we´d give you an update on what we have been doing since our last entry..FINALLY!

After our spectacular sunrise tour of Tikal in Guatamala, we headed soth west to Antigua, which is a town just outside Guatamala city. Its old and colonial and a beautiful place in Guatamala...cobbled streets, old churches and surrounded by volcanoes...we stayed in a very "atmospheric hostel" and managed to taste the local nightlife after a week of bussing it and trecking (in the smallest sense of the word!).

Now, walking into a bar as a few gringos, the attention we received was scary..!everyone has their own interesting little story, but put it this way...wondering the streets of Antigua at 4am is definitely not a good idea especially when half the local population are armed with sawn of shotguns!! Nevertheless we are safe (to all the mums out there) and no one managed to scratch a limb!

A few substantial hangovers later we headed north to Lago de Atitlan which is the largest lake in Central America, again it is surrounded by 3 volcanoes (which we did want to climb),

The Guatamalans...
but a combination of St Georges day, a few televised premier league football matches and an English pub restricted our efforts..! Following a mini boat trip, we were in a very scenic hillside town called San Pedro on the edge of the lake and beneath the volcanoe. We hired a few cayaks for about 50p an hour and paddled out into the middle to appreciate the true greatness of mother nature, and as a bit of geography steve myself, you can imagine...!

After a few days of hard graft and running out of money, we decided to head back to Antigua as our flight was the next day. None of us woke up for the alarm so we missed our BUS!!! We scrambled what change we had and managed to bargain our way onto a "chicken" bus heading somewhere south!! Chicken in all sense of the word. No rules, no speed limit and definitely no comfort!! We bombed it at 70mph round blind corners and i lost both my flip flops out the window...yes i am a spanner! After a 4 and half hour journey (compared to the 2 hour one we made to get here) and some Spanglish,
