Our day started bright and early looking at the elaborate carpets Central America (and Antigua in particular) is famous for. Made out of sawdust, flowers, and vegetables, these carpets are hand made hours in advance of the processions. It was really amazing to see la gente put so much work into such beautiful creations, and then watch the procession pass over them and ruin the colorful patterns. This country really has a passion for celebrating holy week and it is such a blessing to spend our time here.

We spent the rest of the morning exploring Antigua and its various cathedrals and historical ruins. We ate lunch on a rooftop resturant that has become a bit of a favorite among the gringos called Sky Cafe. The afternoon was spent shopping through the many tiendas in the markets and bartering prices on the Guatemalan goods.

After a long day in the sun, we headed back to the hotel to close our evening in worship and remember the significance of Good Friday.

Paz y Amor a todos!
