Our last day in Guatemala was one filled with fun and laughter! Before lunch a small crew stayed back at Mami's house (Estuardo's mother) to complete assembly and painting of a couple teacher desks - which were eventually taken out to a jungle school. The majority of the group went back to The School of the Saints to paint. The interior ceilings were painted (a messy task) and Amy lead a group to paint a welcoming mural on an outside wall.

After lunch, the painting at the school needed to be finished. This task went underway while a skeletal crew delivered the teacher's desks to the jungle school. Upon arrival back to The School of the Saints, we loaded all the paint supplies in the back of the truck and then headed back to our hotel. At that point, the heavens broke open and delivered a downpour. We are positive that the citizens of Reu think we are crazy. Who could blame them? A truck full of 11 gringos plus paint supplies, driving around town in the pouring rain. Nothing but smiles and laughter all the while...what a great time. Diane thought that it was time for a swim...in all of our dirty paint-y clothing! Needless to say, there was an abundance of laughter and joy!

That night there was a fiesta at Mami's house - and a surprise birthday party for Estuardo. He arrived later than the rest of the group, just to be greeted by everyone in awesome party hats. The ladies of the house created a wonderful meal, as always, but also brought in Pollo Campero. (The Guatemalan equivilant of KFC - only better!) The night was filled with dancing and music!

The only sad part of the day, was realizing that tomorrow, Thursday, we would be leaving Reu. There will be many more amazing experiences to be had...we will keep you all updated!
