It was my idea to see the 1965 New York World's Fair, and in 1968 to travel across North America from Montreal to Seattle. Bat Cave

Hundreds of bats called this set of caves home. Cueva de Ambrosio once was used as a refuge by escaped slaves. The cave stretches over 300 meters with may different passages and chambers.

Amazing Discovery

Miranda wandered away and found ancient pictographs. She believes they may be from prehistoric times with 5 interconnected galleries she counted a total of 72 aboriginal rupestrian rock drawings that are representative of the Taino culture 2000 years ago

Cuban foliage

Miranda smells some local plant life.

Thatched-roof restaurant

About a quarter-mile down the beach was an open-air restaurant where vistors could have a drink and watch the action.

Che Guevara

Immortalized in the Motorcycle Diaries, posters and murals of Che are everywhere in Cuba.

Black is slimming

A black shirt will generally take ten pounds off a portly pastor. Red does not. We will leave it at that.

The local craft market

Debate: Is the small carving by Miranda's left hand, a 1) man holding a baseball bat; 2) man holding a walking stick; 3) a well-endowed man; or 4) a man with a piece of fruit holding a large knife?

Cuban countryside

Matanzas is about one hour away from Varadero by bus.

Parque Libertad, Matanzas, Cuba

Parque Libertad is the focal point of modern Matanzas. Miranda is standing in front of a bronze statue of Jose Marti (1909). Liberty is breaking her chains.

This covered walkway was outside one of the government buildings in downtown Matanzas.

Hazards

We love Cuba, but not every sidewalk was maintained to perfection. When residing in Cuba, one must always keep alert.

Telephone booth

Bryan pops his head out of a communications kiosk, which are scattered about Cuba.

Casino Espanol, Matanzas

Bryan led us to the Casino Espanol, where the first performance of a famous danzonete was held. However, as he stepped inside he found that it had been converted to the Biblioteca Gener y Del Monte.

Everywhere: old cars

A number of taxis, old and well maintained are found throughout Cuba.

Canadians follow the guide into one of the many fascinating squares on the tour. Canadians everywhere but few Yanks!

bay of pigs in playa larga
You can visit Playa Larga and Playa Giron where invasion took place.. there is a nice spot called villa guama which is beautiful near the bay of pigs, playa larga hotel right there where invasion took place and Playa Giron hotel as well.. the road by the caribbean sea is just beautiful.. eat at cueva de los peces where a tectonic fault conforms a nice natural pool.. for hotels check http://www.CubaTravelHotels.com and click hotels above

I have to say as a U.S. citizen I am very envious that you can go to cuba! what a great country to explore! ( Not all of us are like what our gov't projects to the world! ) Happy travels!!
