HOLA TODO! Well, well, well.... I've been at my turtle project for almost two weeks exactly, completly cut off from civilization. I bused into a small town called Batann which is on the Caribe cost right north of Limon. In Batann, Paul who runs La Tortuga Feliz, picked me up. We took a cab about 30 mins, and then a boat for another 45 until we ended up at a little island that really only an island because its surrounded by rivers. Only 35 people or so live on this island, no electricity, no stores, nothing to really do but dig a HUGE fucking hole for the turtle egg hatchery. The comforting thing about the timidity I had about traveling solo is running into people who are even more clueless than I am. I don't know how many people I met that didn't speak a lick of Spanish or who had never even made it out of the country before starting out on a 6 month journey...I felt quite reassured that I need NOT be so concerned. Anyway, yes, I actually did make it to San Jose alive after a very long layover and customs line. Once arrived I searched for someone resembling a backpacker type to try to split a cab to the center of town.
