Airport Skytrain
The Atlanta airport was so large they had a subway to get from one area to another. I actually thought this was going to take me into the city so I ended up walking until I figured out this was to get to the other airports Wow it's been 4 years since my last trip. Almost forgot my password to this site. Well this blog will be a few days jammed into one.
I left for Costa Rica on Sept 25th and had 2 lay overs. There's not really any direct flight to CR so I would recommend limitting your layovers. When I first purchase my ticket I thought 2 lay overs including 3 hours at each airport wouldn't be bad but until you do the time it sucks.
The first layover was into Salt Lake City which I flew Delta. I don't know about the other airlines but Delta was pretty disorganized. I came very close to missing my flight because they were overbooked.I asked the lady what was going on and like a veteran she told me to look at the board and if my name comes up on the waiting list I would be clear to board. So for the next hour I was glued to the LCD monitor.
Another 20 minutes passed and I barely squeaked in and once I got on board the airline was trying to convince someone to volunteer to take the next flight for a $400
Airport Security
Atlanta Airport had alot of homeland security broadcast. This photo shows you not to import into the country
i.e crocodile boots...and weird insects voucher and hotel stay.
The flight was 3 hours and I arrived at Atlanta at night and had to wait another 3 hours for the next flight.
It was weird hearing the PA system announce "home land security broadcast". The airport was massive and I was in section A and had to make my way to E. Each one of these sections could of been an airport by itself and to get to each section you had to go underground.
I notice a subway going underground but walked 3 sections until I figured out this subway was used to get from section to section. I thought it was like skytrain back home and if I got on board it would take me to Surrey.
Tips:
limit your layovers
There's wireless everywhere so if you are travelling with a laptop then you are gold.
I finally got into San Jose and after you pick up your bags you are pretty much on your own because at the exit a wave of taxi ppl swarm you.
It's true what they say, I wouldn't hang around SJ too long b/c it's a bit sketchie.
From the air
Sansa Airlines
I would recommend Natural Air if you can. Flying Sansa is like riding your bike on crack down Grouse Grind port you can take a plane or bus.
There are two airlines:
natures air and Sansa airline. I would recommend Natures air because it is so much safer. I flew both and Sansa was sketchie. The plane was all over the place and that dreaded beeping sound came on like the plane was going down. The girl behind me was in tears and if it wasn't for 15 hours of flying and layovers to get to CR I might of crapped my pants too.
Thinking back I would bus it because it is so much cheaper. Flying cost $100 one way from SJ to eather coast.
Busing you have two options: Shuttle and local.
Shuttle is $35 but it's ALoT more comfy and takes 2 hours less. Local bus takes 7 hours and stops everywhere and it's cramped but it's $8.
They take dollars here so no need to worry if you have no Colons.
500 colons equal $1
okay I have to cut it short here and try to keep up withmy blogging each day.
