Tim and Belly Dance Costume
Here is when we were walking around San Jose Late last night Tim arrived from Germany via Newark, New Jersey. I was able to check out the flight status online at the hostel and then I went my bus to the airport to get him. There were several flights arriving at the same time, so immigration was busy and there was much confusion for me not being very fluent in Spanish. But I did find him and we grabbed his luggage and took the bus back to the central part of San Jose. We made it back to the hostel without a problem and Tim was given a room on the second floor near me. Unfortunately for him, his room did not have a person of inspiration on the walls. But he was quite tired and was happy to have a clean peaceful room. Since I arrived in Costa Rica, I have never gone to bed as late as last night, (12:30am).
In the morning, Tim wished me a Happy Birthday and gave me the book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and I cannot remember if I have read it or not. Now I have a lot of weight in books in my bag and have to get cracking at
We arrive by bus to Orosi
Here is Tim in front of the soccer field and the oldest church in Costa Rica is behind the field. We had just arrived by bus from San Jose reading my books and leaving them at hostels so as to reduce the load.
Tim and I had a light breakfast at the hostel and then went to the bank to exchange dollars for colones and Tim needed some flip flops. So we went walking but didn't find any except a pair with the "Barcelona" written on them. This was unexceptable to Tim since Spain's soccer team rivals his native (German) team. So later he bought more expensive crocs to wear in the shower of the hostel.
Tim took me out to a late breakfast/early lunch for my birthday and then we went back to the hostel, said our good-byes and headed for the bus. We boarded one bus to Cartago and then changed buses and ended up in the village of Orosi. We checked in at the Spanish School, Montana Linda and then headed to the hostel for Tim to get his room. My family representative, Amada met me at the hostel and Tim walked with me to my new house with the family. Tim has a nice single room that is upstairs and hopefully will catch the evening breeze. There are only 2 other people staying at the hostel and the manager says she thinks it is because of the "grippe" or the flu (no one wants to come to Costa Rica). There is one Dutch guy staying at the hostel and another guy of unknown nationality (we haven't seen him).
At Amada's we met her sons Aaron and Luis and she served us homemade empanados and coffee. We made an arrangement for Tim to eat with Amada and her family and he would pay her $3 each night. So that way Tim can get to speak and hear some spanish with this nice family before we head to the Caribbean and he has a family he doesn't know. Amada asked us to accompany Luis to the internet cafe, but it is not sure what we are supposed to watch out for. I am not sure we can confidently keep him from making contact with people online. After a while Tim went to the grocery store to load up on some stuff for his breakfast (my breakfast is provided by Amada). Tim came past the cafe to show me that he purchased the essentials for hostel life (cereal, milk, orange juice and beer), so I guess he is set.
Luis is now working on a report for school. He has downloaded a picture of a hospital and is writing a report about it. At the same time he is watching You Tube videos and listening to music. Talk about multi-tasking! Both boys are really cute and we will have a fun time with them. I have taken some pictures of the family and of course my camera card is playing the same old tricks and now not showing pictures I have taken. Uggh!
Now it is later and I tried the card and now it works, so you can see pictures!
