We decided to set the alarm this morning to catch the sunrise. It had rained a lot last night, so there were still clouds in the sky this morning. We got up about 5:20a and walked down to the beach. We sat on a log and waited for the sun to show itself. While we were waiting, a crab scuttled over and went into his crab hole, where he would peek out every so often.
It was very serene out - almost no one else up. We watched the clouds turn yellow to pink and finally the sun came up. It was really pretty, but we were tired, so we went back to bed and got up around 8:30a. We slowly got ourselves together and super sunscreened and walked back to The Split. We did our best to hang out in the more shaded parts of the water and wear our hats to protect against the mean sun. It worked pretty well. We followed our usual schedule - had some beers, talked briefly to some people, but mostly we just hung out on our little bench in the water. Adam caught some little crabs (I even held one - it was
a little bit tickle-y) and decided to do some hermit crab racing. He would pluck two poor little crabs up from the water and put them down on the wet bench, and whichever one crawled back into the water first, won. He was a gentleman and let me pick my crab first though, so I usually won.
We split a seafood burrito for lunch, which they delivered to us in the water! It was spicy and delicious (and cheap). We finished up our beer and decided to head back to the room about 1:30p or so. Showered off and spent some time reading out of the sun. We later laid down for a very nice nap.
In the evening we walked back to Pizza Caulker for dinner, and the place was lively. There was only one table left open! We recognized a fair amount of people there - we had been noticing that. It's such a small place you keep seeing the same people over and over and get to know them a little bit. It's kind of fun.
We ordered a pepperoni pizza so that we'd have some leftovers for the plane tomorrow. The pizza was delicious and it's
such a nice, chill place to have a few beers and hang out. We did just that for a couple of hours and then decided to head back to the hotel. We stopped by a mini market to pick up some beer to take home (we have to share all that Belikin) and I decided to try out a diet pineapple soda.
We dropped our stuff off in the room, and went to hang out in the hammocks for a bit. It was so relaxing and nice. The breeze off the ocean at night is wonderful. It rustles the palm trees and keeps things cool.
I can't believe we have to say good-bye tomorrow and head home.
