T-man says Ah, Tianjin, I particularly like the photo of Zac with the massive errection and the crabs, I hope you didn't catch these. Yay for weekend outings, I hope it warms up soon for you guys. Feel free to delete this comment:P
GouBuLi The GouBuLi (means not even dogs would try) dumpling is famous because Empress Dowager Cixi liked it 150 years ago.
Like most kings in China, the things they like will get popularity.
The dumplings use to be good, as the filling is fatty pork, which gives great satisfaction for hungry Chinese people. Let's be honest, till 1980s, there are lots of hungry Chinese.
When you go to Xi'an, you will find out their equivalent famous snack to Tianjing's GouBuLi, YangRouPaoMo (Lamb soup with bread) is even fattier. Have more short trips during weekend.
Wunderbar Great to read of your Deutsch escapades, Sof- not dry at all for this Germanic-ancestry Frau! Actually I have travelled very little in the land of my forebears but it looks great. What's Penny up to there? My gosh you girls get around! Just have to tell you Eli is a big kindy boy now and each day brings home new inventive creations in sticky tape and toilet rolls, which he is duly proud of. Steven and I regularly talk of dropping in on you in China as we are PR (post renovation), but I actually think we are more in recovery mode, in lots of ways. Still, loving it, all this space and light. Love to you and Zac,PJ
that was an awesome blog! can't wait to see you guys, missing you heaps! sof, that would have taken hours for you to thaw out - you really should stop letting people freeze you like that!
Hey, what's with abusing the name 'Norman'?! Hey guys,
I can't believe all you've gone through! But, did you have to come up with the name Norman to abuse??!! Next blog, maybe Norman could get a name change!
Best of luck with it all!
Rach
12 sqm I don't care what these other fools are saying, all this "it was good to see again" - It was absolutely miserable in BJ without you guys - me and my alcoholic workmates missed you terribly!! I'm just glad you're back now, and, most importantly, that we got to drink that Cooper's at 12sqm :-)
btw I might have this Norman guy around for a drink; he sounds like a pretty uptight kinda guy
the other car Hey kids,
great to hear you made it back, and much like ana it was great to catch up with you in Singa. The other car for the viewers at home is a Pagani Zonda, and that was just his undercover carpark on his driveway. Downstairs he supposedly has a Hummer, a Maserati, a Porsche 911 (which he drives most days), plus the odd nissan and mazda and god knows what else. Anyway keep us posted, best of luck to you both
yay for me! I know it was the biggest pain to have to visit the embassy in Melbourne - BUT it was soooo fantastic to see you guys!!! YAY!! And I am very relieved that you were able to make it back with visas in hand. Hope stage 2 goes as well. Good luck!
warzone?! i'm sorry, did you say new year? i thought you had suddenly been caught in the midst of some kind of warzone... have you mysteriously jumped ship to kosovo?? oh my goodness, that was insane. makes spanish fireworks look positively pissy. xxx
Wow! Pretty fireworks on the video, but it sounds like a war zone! So glad to hear that you guys survived! Crazy. And it looks really cold there!!! So looking forward to coming up to see you guys, not so sure about looking forward to the weather!! Zac those black gloves you've got on look like they'd fare quite well in the Artic!

They remind me of those cookie dough things you can buy in the supermarket - Aunty Kath's? But those ones don't quite look edible!
