spiritual insights I would be delighted to hear any insights you would like to share. I am not particularly mainstream myself. I consider native peoples to be closer to spirituality in a natural way. My parnter is native american and he has had spiritual vision all his life.
By the way PDX was just voted number one american airport by a famous travel magazine. Charles Sunaga is touring the US now. We sure could use another pianist! I am harping daily, taking off thanksgiving and xmas cause sales are slow on holidays. Make hay while the sun shines. And yes it is raining raining raining.
And the hot showers are wonderful. (:-D)
Preaching?? Hi Joel my dear friend. I didn't feel you were preaching. I felt you were
doing what you want to do with your life and surrounding yourself with new experiences and feelings. It is what you have chosen to do at this time in your life and perhaps forever. It sounds like your not sure about that at this point. I will write more later but rest assured any thoughts you choose to write about are ok with me...........Love Norah
back Hi Joel, sorry we weren't here the other day when you called but i guess the timing was meant to be. alberto has told me of the mountains in nov dec and jan but not the jungle. just knowing you are in a rain forest lets you sit back and feel it. Glad you have so many animal friends to keep you company. very glad you are working with an herbal natural shaman...there is always a gentleness with those who work with the plants and the trees. wish him well for us. your work here is disappearing. soon all of tuscany will be cleared away for your new paintings. love.
Iquitos Joel, I am getting ready to travel to Iquitos for ceromony. Mabye soon maybe afew months, hope to cross paths with you, are you stiil near pulc? See you in the near future!
40 days almost over thinking of you often and hope you are ok and it is all you had hoped
for. anxious to hear your comments on this part of your journey. hugs to you my dear friend from portland
ds;kvasogbv hello..you'll probably not get this for a while seeing as it's been a bit of time simce this post.. but happy late b-day and good luck with the fast..may be i can come make it there next summer if you are still there.
religion in Peru The Inca were invaded by the Christ Spearhead normally called the Spanish. Open to the free expression of religion and seeing Christ as an Inca they were ready to welcome him in to the pantheor. The Spanish insisted he was the one and only and oppressed their hosts. it saddens me to see the 7th day adventists there. it is why western and european "religious" zealots could not understand Africa, South Amjerica, the Native American, the Middle Easterner and the Asian shaman etc. It is "superiority and supremacy" that has established the pecking order of the western etc cast system and that makes it impossible for them to perceive these cultures as of equal value and as important to understand as language and symbol.
alaska It was a wonderful experiance; however it did not fullfill my wonderlust; I must leave wisconsin I am planning to go to portland, and then from there I plan to head out to do the pacific crest trail this next april, I will set out on the trail on april fools day! Love you brother good luck!

Nora with an H Hi Norah! No Worries. I am guided by love. What can possibly be better and safer than that? I will begin the diet and work for 40 days with a shaman so I wont be completely alone. He will be there to make sure I don't disappear into some other dimension permanently. I will be fine!...trust me...I know what Im doing. hehe...take care, My thoughts r with you:) Love and a big hug from Peru...Joel

Living life Hey Joel, I'm sure you'll get this after the fast .. . Taunya showed me a pic from your brother's wedding, and I asked her what you were up to . . WOW!! Sounds like you are doing what you want and how you want and I envy you for that , . . I'm trying to put my life back together since my divorce . . who knows? I might have to get some money together and come find you . . Glad to see that you are doing well . . I'll save this link so I can keep up with you .. my email is monkyupons@hotmail.com . . Hope to talk to you soon, and hope your house gets done soon - Christian Barrera
Journey Hi Joel, Good hearing from you. You do look well. Gathering from all your journals I don't think you can escape the corrupton that creeps in wherever humaity resides. The sad part is you can not take all those nice people you have met home with you to enjoy some of the conveniences that free interprise does offer.
Take good care of yourself. Hella
thoughts of Joel I like your new home. Hope when you get done with your 40 day starvation thing you will show us more pictures in and out. I can't
help but worry - you are so tall and lean already - and now only a
little rice each day. I just don't understand the purpose. If you have
no contact with the outside world how would one know if you are
surviving or not. I also wonder about your art and one of your goals
was to teach art to children in the area. I know you are doing just
what you want to do and I totally respect that Joel. But worry I will
and only hope to see your kind handsome face again some day. Work sucks even more than usual which should not surprise you at all !! Just
hanging on until after the first of the year and then will see. 40 days
is a long time but look forward to your next blog. Love and hugs to you my friend.
Howdy Good to see a blog from ya, I was beginning to wonder where you were. 40 days is a loooong time. I hear after the first 3 days or so it isn't too rough, once you have detoxed. Anyway, I hope you received the package and that it was what you wanted.
Oh, and the house looks awesome. Can't wait to see more pictures!
I am 28 years old and still don't feel like I have found my true path in life, so I have sold everything I own and will be heading to the Peruvian Amazon on April 20th 2006. Once in Lima I will find my way to the Amazon city of Pucallpa, most likely by bus, then meet up with a man by the mane of Pablo Amaringo who started an art school in the Amazon. I want to experience life in the Amazon and learn more about myself, and what better way than to jump off into the unknown.....
