hey jungle man! Glad you've settled into what looks like the idyllic place for you. Love the pictures and narratives of your travels so far. Interesting tidbits of the local flavor. Seth and I are trying to figure out how we can get down there to visit you. My friend Penny is in Bolivia and we'd love to visit her too in one big trip. Will be interested to see how your art develops with your travels too! Take care and don't get eaten by ants!
It is all falling into place. I am glad you were able to connect so well with your new teacher's son and the village. It looks like the adventure will be most inspiring not just to your art but to you as an old soul.
much love, wish we were there.

The Belly of Mother Earth Being in that cave sounds really beautiful. It must have been very special. I look forward to hearing more about your interaction with nature and your quiet moments of serenity during your solo soul searching journey. Mucha Suerto, muchos besos y abrazos, mucho amor. :)
P.S. It would take me quite a while to get used to the 1.5 inch roaches though! Seems that you handled it well!
amazing it is just so hard to imagine you are really there and all these experiences are happening for you. it is very exciting. you mention the bugs etc so casually and just make the best of it all. i can picture you bouncing along in the car or bus and your head banging on the window or top lol - oh i saw victor in your car driving along division taking his friend to kaiser - he seemed to be driving straight and turned into the kaiser parking lot with his signal on. he is advertising for you all over town - hope by driving the car he has people contacting your web site. they will be surprised to see another face other than his. all is well with me - i saw the surgeon yesterday and he said see you in 3 months. he said he will be following me for 2 years. went to the casino in lincoln city last sunday and won $200 over and above what i took. not bad eh? going to stay at the chinook winds resort from may 21 - 26. ocean front main floor room - hope a fews days are nice weather. i heard from irma and will write back to her soon. stay calm, cool and collected and look forward to more of your journey joel. love from portland .... norah

How is the Jungle? Joel, happy to hear you are heading out to a new and exciting experience. Look forward to your commentary and the thrill of vicarious travel. Enjoy!
Peru Isn't it nice when synchronicity makes like a neon sign blazing the trail and saying this way. Don't lose the name for later. Are you going to journal? Your own book might be good after you do your work.

Your arrival I'm glad you made it safe and sound! So far, it looks like things are going the way they should. You're in our thoughts and prayers. We love you!
my friend hello brave soul - i'm glad you made it and are getting rest - i had a nice note from irma and i will stay in touch with her - your always in my thoughts and i wish you happy new experiences in your travels. remember what i told you - i love you like a son and will worry about you like a mom !!!
Hi down there ! What's it like looking up at different constellations than the ones you saw up here ? I read "The Celestine Prophecy" many years ago. We have our own purposes on this earth and do attract to ourselves depending on who and what we are. You ought to write your own book someday, but I guess we will be reading it through your journals as time goes on. Look up, laugh and live ! Hugs, Grandma
Adios! Hey Joel, glad to hear you are on your way! Good luck with the travels and keep us updated. Where in Peru are you headed? Love ya, and stay safe!

Yes Congratulations on the freedom of shedding all that extra weight to go on your journey. You'll have to start reading Whitman and Thoreau about the uncomplicated life. We'll write soon.

I am 28 years old and still don't feel like I have found my true path in life, so I have sold everything I own and will be heading to the Peruvian Amazon on April 20th 2006. Once in Lima I will find my way to the Amazon city of Pucallpa, most likely by bus, then meet up with a man by the mane of Pablo Amaringo who started an art school in the Amazon. I want to experience life in the Amazon and learn more about myself, and what better way than to jump off into the unknown.....
