Just saying Hi Want you to know I miss you and know you are pursuing your
life and all that it may hold for you. Wish you could write in the
journal more often as there are many here you left behind and
we just want to make sure your safe. I'm doing well and just
got back from another weekend in Prineville (the smell of juniper
lingers in my mind) and am planning a trip to Arkansas the end
of August. A friend moved there from the Oregon coast and has
taken up residency in an old restaurant with living quarters upstairs
in a very small town. Ought to be interesting. Hugs Joel.
Felicidades Felicidades Joel en tu nuevo hogar. We're really happy you're able to go on this journey and really search for the meaning of life, the meaning of who and why we are. I believe we all need to make such a journey but end up so caught up in life and materialism we never do. So, our next best option is to live vicariously through you and your experience. Y que nos cuentes el secreto cuando regreses...si es que regresas ;)
Cuidate!

hey cousin Good to hear you're having the adventure of a lifetime. My 2 years in Samoa definitely broadened my horizons. You really can't begin to understand life until you've seen it from another peoples' eyes. Being submerged in another culture will definitely open your eyes and things like individualism and money definitely become less and less appealing, or even neccessary.
Stay safe and keep learning. I'm getting married in November but if you won't be back you can just send us a couple bottles of ayahuasca. just kidding.
I'm Checking Up on You It's a strange world isn't it? You sent me some cards to say thank you for pointing out a computer glitch and I looked at your site. So now I see you've done it sold everything and gone to Puru. I have added you to my blog so I can check on you often. In my opinion you've found yourself, you are wherever you are and whatever you are doing. The more the challenge the better. visit me sometime much further North. http://cabinfeverinalaska.blogspot.com/

be. Stay safe and "sound" and keep the Journals coming when you
have time. Love from Oregon
A thought or two.... Laughter is the voice of a smile.
A smiling heart is the caretaker of friendship's garden.
When we are ready to listen with our heart, we are transformed.
Today is God's gift to us...that is why it is called the "present".
Lots of love, Grandma and Grandpa
Wowie kazowie Wow Joel......beautiful world. Life IS short and its important to learn about you and who you are and who you may chose to become. There's so much out here in the world to experience and to grow from....its what you can give to the world that will define you....sounds like you have a great many opportunities to help people out there....the best exercise for the heart is to bend down and help someone up!! Take care of your health and what the heck was that episode of smoking or drinking something and then having hallucinations or something?? I don't think you need that to find yourself so.....just keep taking cool pics and do what you can while you are there to help those around you!! take care jolie!! not jolley ya know its joelee!! love sheila

Enlightening... I agree if with you, if we connected more with ourselves and the crucial relationship with nature we would be less inclined to live so unconsciously and destroy ourselves along with our natural environment. I am so intrigued now by ayahuasca, at first I was very intimidated by the thought by now after reading your experience and this woman's healing experience with Ayahuasca in Peru, detailed in this National Geographic article: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/0603/features/peru.html.
It sounds simply amazing. You were in my thoughts throughout the evening and I am happy to hear that it went well. Love, mwa, Yami
Dagoba After reading your post I just started craving Dagoba's chocolate from Tingo Maria. I began my search for it at grocery stores as a small attempt to connect to your experience there! Well I couldn't find it at whole foods but found some other chocolate to appease me.
I am sooo happy my butterfly friend is watching over you, greeting you, and sending you my love on your journey. It made my day. :)
lotsa love
Irma
Safe arrival Happy to hear you arrived at your destination safely. This is like having my own step by step travel log of Brazil. Please continue to keep us posted.

You finally made it! I'm glad things are unfolding nicely for you. It's fun to live vicariously thru your experiences. It must be beautiful and serene living in the jungle! Keep sending those pix-and don't go barefoot in the night :)
Love, Mom
thank you Thank you for taking the time to post such beautiful pictures and share your adventure. It is a joy to see the nature photos and hear about your experiences.
I am 28 years old and still don't feel like I have found my true path in life, so I have sold everything I own and will be heading to the Peruvian Amazon on April 20th 2006. Once in Lima I will find my way to the Amazon city of Pucallpa, most likely by bus, then meet up with a man by the mane of Pablo Amaringo who started an art school in the Amazon. I want to experience life in the Amazon and learn more about myself, and what better way than to jump off into the unknown.....
