Hi William. Where are you now? I came across your blog and was surprised to see that you are from my neck of the woods. I've enjoyed reading and looking at all the great pictures you've posted. Now it's been quite a while since your last post. Would like to read more of your adventures!
WOW! Great photos and commentary! The sunset is amazing. The gold temple with circling Buddhas is very similar to the one in Westbridge, B.C., Hümüh Monastery, where we played a concert last summer. Not a peep out of this community on New Year's Eve...maybe there was an agitated bark from a neighboring dog, we in our bathrobes laughing at the piteous rabble in Times Square, Dick Clark barely able to speak (stroke?), awful music until the glorious moment when John Lennon's "Imagine" was floating over the whole scene, but obnoxious commentators blabbed through it. Wished we could have had ourselves, bathrobes and all, projected onto the screen over the Square wishing "Happy New Year you sorry saps, we're cozy here with our wood fire and Munchie Mix." Good that you are learning how to party...a bit late in life, but what the heck....Shari
Hi Bill, Glad to get your trip news. Once upon a time I too was a
tripster. Shari and I spent our honeymoon summer hitch-hiking through
Germany, Austria, France. We had a nice open-house here on the
30th....with the usual suspects and live music happening the whole time. Happy New Year to you Bill. .........Edmund

NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT Beautiful photos...we're getting a great idea of the extent of lushness both of the countryside and the revelers...heck, there's no time like the present for enjoying what the good ol' earth offers up...Merry Christmas Boxing Day..anxious to see what New Year's Eve brings for you!
cambodia Hi,
Did the same trip last year, enjoyed the trip to cambodia fro phu quec. Did however took a taxi from Rah Gia to Chau Doc, the driver had done the trip before so we ended up being lost...but hay that the fun of it....and when with tho boat across the boader to cambodia. Reading your blog, I was a bit surprised that you thought it was expensive in Cambodia compared to thailnad and vietnam....I thought it was by far the cheapest place, and very friendly people aswell. I am will go back to vietnam again, since I found it very interesting place to go. But you are right it is more dirty, and more bumbs on the roads.
anyway enjoy your trip to Thailand...
WE HAVE SNOW Hey Magic Bill, We had snow all day yesterday, lots of wind, and on our walk to the lake in late afternoon, there were large waves and swells...looked like a big, grey, cold ocean. The dogs flushed out pheasant and quail in abundance and there were the usual geese and mallards. No osprey this time, but I saw them last week. They have finally punched through a dirt road connecting Coopers to Hill Road....there now, don't you miss all this excitement!
fascinating/educating I am in rainy ole limey reading your blogs. Absolutely fabulous reading! What a spirit of adventure you have! keep on writing bill!
What, no lobster? Hey Magic Bill, Wonderful pictures and reporting on your adventure to date! I would be green with envy...ah heck, I am green with envy about the fantastic beaches. Would love to know if the types of fish you have been eating are familiar to you or not. We ate much fish in Brazil that was totally unknown to us. Also had a door-to-door lobster salesman, but the lobsters were smaller, not the Maine variety. What seafood are you eating? And, do the locals drink the green coconut milk? Also, are you discovering "strange fruits"? No snow on the ground here yet, but it's creeping down the hills around the lakes. How's the mosquito factor?
It's Cold and We Have Pumpkins Hey Magic Bill, Great journaling for us poor stay-at-homes. Your seaside experience reminds me a bit of Brazil...we had a door-to-door lobster salesman. I remember also the treatment of the "gringo pushovers", taxi prices were always double and/or you always were taken on the "Excursao da Cidade" before you were taken to your destination. There's snow on the Coquihalla. Have a wonderful time...our interim Computer Guru, Tonya, is wacky but seems to know her stuff. Shari
jealous as hell Hey will , Your adventures sound fantastic , i'm reading this at work atm. I wish I could escape out of here and join in on the fun!.
Stay Safe Kate
