Everyday that we have been in Cuzco there has been some sort of parade and we continually keep joking that everyone here is a professional dancer because they are constantly in the street doing choreographed dancing. One we saw today had young boys dressed at llamas and the girls were herding them. It was the dance of the llamitas. This kind of stuff has been a theme of our time in Cuzco. It is a great place to be if you like culture. From every point in the city you can hear someone playing an instrument beautifully. Jeff and I hung out with Lisa from Australia for most of the day and Lisa encouraged me to buy an alpaca sweater. It is pretty awesome and cost a hefty $8. Everything is so cheap here. I just returned from doing the 4 day Inca Trail. I dont think words will be able to accurately describe how incredible the last 4 days have been. Arriving at the Sun Gate (Intipunku) after about 27 miles of tough mountain hiking and seeing Machu Picchu as the sun came over the mountains was the most amazing thing I have seen or done and I cant imagine that anything will ever top that moment of my life. First off, the trail was so great. the night before I got food poisoning and literally emptied myself of all fluids via the double bucket (Frances). At 2 am I was still in the bathroom and we had to meet our group at 4:45. Day 1 I hit the wall after about 2 hours and literally was taking breaks ... read more

We got up early and caught a dirt cheap local bus to Pisac to check out the ruins there. We were the only non-Peruvians on the bus. Some would say it was a bit sketchy, but it really wasnt. After about an hour we got to the town and then I talked a taxi drvier into bringing us up to the ruins for cheap. There we hiked for a bit to see them. It was really amazing. The fortress is on a mountain top overlooking three sides of the valley. The views were incredible. We sat up there a while just taking it in. We were two of maybe 6 people at the ruins. When we left however there was a bunch of French people on their way up. then we went back to Pisac and ... read more

Jeffrey and I got to Cuzco yesterday and have been falling in love with it more and more with each passing hour. I am enjoying myself moreso than most places my travels have taken me, mostly because I have studied the culture of the Sacred Valley of the Incas an Peru for several years. Everywhere we go I have some bit of information to pass along to Jeff. The main thing I want to say is how amazing the people are here. Person for person they are the nicest people I have encountered ANYWHERE. I had heard they hassle you bad here, but honestly it is nothing. Everyone is so nice that if they come up to you they leave if you dont want anything or they will just talk to you about whatever. We met ... read more
