Thanks Woolly! I was in Turkey in 1992, but travelling to Nemrut Dag was not recommended by the Kurds due to the kidnappings in the area at the time. Thank you for showing me a part of Turkey that I missed. Did you see any camel statues? If not, my favourite is the eagle one - very noble looking.
My Pleasure Glad to be of help Travel Camel, I didn't find any camels on that day but I posted some which were on the day before's blog. I liked the Lion best!
flamingo? I think your 'flamingo' might be an ostrich!
Woolly, you and Jo must take good care of Ian - you wouldn't want to be stranded in a foreign country with a sick person!
You are right! Sorry I think you are right, Woolly insisted that it was a Flamingo and there's no arguing with the mammoth. We have looked after Ian who is lots better now.
Transport meant for me! I love the fetching hat the camel is wearing. Thanks for naming this photo after me; sorry it took so long to provide a comment.
beautiful Turkey This is so lovely! How do you find life in Turkey compared to England? (you are British, right?) Didn't know people still goes on picnics! :)
Many Thanks It is a beautiful country indeed. Life is different and yes we are Brits (have a look at the next blog - when we can get it on), food is cheap and really tastes like it is meant to, it's very hot at the moment which suits Ian but Woolly and I feel it a bit, the people are wonderful and so friendly, it is so different to the UK but felt like home from the very start. Being Brits we do like our butties and picnics with the ants, over here we can make the butties but not find any ants! The Turkish picnic seems to consist of watermelon which is lovely but not a filling as our sandwiches.
Memoirs In the past year were in Turkey. When got to the hilt, we had no money for tickets. We went another way, free of charge. This allowed us to see Ephesus from other angles. To turn off the tourist trail is very helpful.
Tourist Trails We agree and quite a few of the places we have been to this year have been free ones or really cheap. The blog about Pamukkale is an example of this as we felt the price was a bit steep and we could see most of it for free.
Beautiful This is absolutely beautiful! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could travel back in time to see it in all it's glory?! Which one of you is into greek mythology? ;)
You can only Wonder it was amazing and must have been indescribable when first built, how cool to have an time machine and go back to see it! Ian and Woolly are the Ancient ones, I'm more modern history but love Ancient as well.
'We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us'
A truly multi-national mammoth that travels the world visiting places of interest, making new friends and causing mischief wherever he can. With my carer Jo (bless her!) I have scaled castle walls, walked in the footsteps of Roman Emperors and Maharajah's, climbed mountains, contemplated caverns, caves and canyons and attempted the Le Mans 24 hour race on a skateboard! Whether it be climbing a Minaret in Mostar, Paddling in the Arabian Sea, Scaling mountains in Kotor, Feeding chickens in France or Catching trains in India, not... full info
