The ship As a Dr. Who fan, I am reminded of the episode "Voyage of the Damned" every time I see the Marina Bay Sands. Marvelous feat of engineering, and one of the more interesting buildings I've ever seen.
Think it's lost for good! It's strange how losing just an hour can make you so tired, not going to be great when we lose 7 on our arrival back in the UK
Hawker Centers For future reference, you might want to eat in hawker centers - MUCH less expensive, and generally terrific food. You were close to a couple of the bigger and more well-known ones: Lau Pa Sat in the financial district, and Maxwell Road Hawker Center near the URA building. Hawker centers are my go-to food choices in Singapore, along with chicken curry at Ya Kun. YUM! (I just made myself very hungry....)
Great advice Thank you for the information, great advice, because we don't eat meat we find it tricky to find any choices in the cheaper options, we have however found a veggie indian close to where were staying so are enjoying some excellent curries
They are indeed There is lots of restoration work going on with the Cambodian's being helped by quite a few different countries, given the amount of places and the size of them that has to be a good thing
The mighty Khmer Empire Revisited I always dreamed of visiting the temples of Siem Reap that have been extricated from the grip of the jungle revealing the mind blowing empire of the Khmers that once was in its zenith but for rediscovery and restoration many may say it never has been. Delighted for you that you can wander the ruins and dream what they may have been.
You need to go The pictures are good but don't do it justice, it's an incredible place to be able to wander and see what they achieved and try imagine what it would have looked like....you have to go
South Gate I absolutely love the South Gate of Angkor Thom! From memory, the gods line the left side of the road and the demons line the right side - could explain the grumpier faces... although I hadn't noticed that they got grumpier closer to the gate :)
Incredible Your right on the gods and demons..... forgot to put that in the blog! They really did get grumpier the nearer the gate we got. Loved it in fact loved the whole day but it was exhausting
'We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us'
A truly multi-national mammoth that travels the world visiting places of interest, making new friends and causing mischief wherever he can. With my carer Jo (bless her!) I have scaled castle walls, walked in the footsteps of Roman Emperors and Maharajah's, climbed mountains, contemplated caverns, caves and canyons and attempted the Le Mans 24 hour race on a skateboard! Whether it be climbing a Minaret in Mostar, Paddling in the Arabian Sea, Scaling mountains in Kotor, Feeding chickens in France or Catching trains in India, not... full info
