...further to my coronary, Hi Sare and Evan. Vietnam - what an exotic beauty it must be - the heat, the vegetation, the beaches, the architecture, reminders of the war years everywhere - i can't imagine. I am very concerned for your safety however - its no place to learn how to drive a moped or motorcycle - I consider myself an exclnt driver and I've owned 3 bikes and had accidents on every one of them - ive known many people who have had fatal or near fatal accidents - it just happens - at an intersection when someone is in a hurry making a left hand turn or running a light, or a pothole on the highway, or driving too fast to react to...a cow making a sudden appearance on the road. Plse be responsible and only use mopeds or bikes as an absolute last resort, if at all. There are a finite number of things that can get you in any serious trouble over there and bikes must be high on the list, whether youre driving one or on the back of one, it doesn't matter. All forms of transportation over there are risky to some extent but mopeds are probably the worst.
Aside from that I'm really thrilled youre enjoying Vietnam. Glad there are so many other travellers around to meet and compare stories. Its late and I've gotta run but wanted to say hi and get this out to you asap - have fun, take care and give us a shout when you have time.

G 1 All sounds mind boggling. So much to take in and absorb. Hope you're taking care of each other. Evan, how come you won't get your G 1 here, yet you'll get on a crazy motorcycle and drive amongst the crazy Vietnamese? So , it's been two weeks now and I know you only took five pairs of underwear, have you actually attempted to do the unmentionable and do your own laundry? You have no bedroom floor to leave them on. Allkidding aside, you two sound as though you're coping very well. We all miss you here.Every night Laura asks if I have to go pick up Evan when she goes to bed. Habit I guess. Lots of Love Mom
SOOOO MUCH! Hey you two!!
Holy bejesus!! I got dizzy taking that all in. It sounds like you are having a freakin blast! Mr. Rhee sounds sooooooo nice. I don't understand why his name is Mr. Rhee and her name is Mrs. Moon. It may be a joke i am just too thick to understand! Anywhoosen I can't wait to hear about Vietnam so dont' stop writing!
Lucky ducks! That's so awesome that you guys met such a wicked awesome family to tour you around the city. Louie is twitching his nose in approval. Miss you!!
Great Update It sounds like Mr. Rhees' family is just what you guys needed to start off your trip. Hopefully you guys got their address so that you can follow up with them when you get back. The pictures look great. Send more if you get a chance. Evan you should get a picture of yourself fishing in each country you visit. It would be good for your collection. Take care and make sure you look both ways while crossing the roads in Vietnam. Sterman says hi. LOL
Sounds Like a Blast Glad to hear that you arrived and you are enjoying yourselves immensely. So happy that you guys met a bunch of people in your hostel. I know there are alot of English speaking people down there in Seoul as teachers and with the military base. Now I have to get this straight; you traded a bed at your hostel for a place on the floor! I think lack of sleep has catched up to you. Enjoy the scenery and the exotic food.
Jenn
wow mr. rhee and mrs. moon? i hope you write a book about them. a children's book. mrs moon..
eeee. reading your entries made me not worried. you guys are doing good. i would very much love to be there instead of in this crappy-music-loud-people-it's-fridayyyyy suite.
bye!
Greetings from G-ville Evan, all sounds absolutely amazing. you always did talk to strangers and anyone who would smile at you. All those veggies and healthy food , you'll come back healthier than when you left.I've already bought you some yams, meatless meatballs and salad for your return .Laura says you'll probably know everyone in Seoul by now. Look forward to hearing your voice soon. Lots of love from all of us. mom
Hey Sarah WOW! Sounds like you are having an amazing time. Amazing to think that you have been away less than a week (I think). We are thinking about you. Have a blast.
xo
wow hey guys, that's pretty amazing that this guy invited you to stay with him just after meeting him on the hiking trail....although i'm not really surprised with evan's gift of the gab.
a'juuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiccccccccceeeeeeeee hey guys, glad to see that you made the flight alright. pretty crazy to think that you're on the other side of the world. question, are all the asians as short as oda?
Dundas youths storm Korea Whoa, slow down, slow down there kiddo, can't keep up - i feel like I'm being fastforwarded thru an episode of 24. The food alone has got me confused, not to mention the bed-less bedrooms. You keeping all your stuff, passports, cameras, flight tickets safe during all of this? This Mr. Rhee (myster-ee) chap must be a good guy to let you 2 vagrants crash at his place for a few days. Can you actually sleep on the floor? Shopping sounds like huge amount of fun - will be another total culture shock when you leave the glass towers and condos of Soeul for the bamboo huts of Vietnam. Looking forward to pics. Stay safe U2. Cam from Ham.
Too Much Fun Okay already! You guys are having too much fun. We need some pictures...I checked out the weather in Vietnam and it's 34 celcius, just a couple more days and Ev with be in heaven. Take care.
hello hope you two got some sleep and are doing okay. please e mail or update blog.Call by Sunday night
How was your hike? Are you finding anything edible Evan? hope to catch you later tonight. Lots of love , mom
lookin good Looks like a fab meal guys and a very pretty restaurant - excellent photo. Hard to believe there's anything out there as good as the Hunan but you'll have 4 mos to prove it (yikes). I guess no worries sarah will starve, w/ Ev's appetite never far away. That flight sounded a little exotic in itself. How's the hostel? Miss you already - take care - don't step off a curb without looking both ways you crumballs. A Deo.
Corner Stores So Evan, are all the corner stores there owned by white folks? Just wondering. Hope all is well, we've rented out your room and we're making a killing. Ha, Ha,
uppy uppy littlle guppy hope you two had a good nights rest. we're all thinking about you. seems you are all anyone can talk about. hope to catch up with you later tonight if possible. This is really amazing that I can nag you from the other side of the world. Dad says hi.
P.S. very funny...skip the peanut jokes!
Safe arrival! I am so happy to hear that you arrived safely. I can't imagine a 14 hr. flight - as I had a hard time sitting still on the flight to Greece. Seoul sound quite incredible - an Asian New York - and I haven't managed to even get to New York. This pictue of you both looks great - you would never know you are functioning on so little sleep. The food looks amazing - probably a big improvement over the McDonalds fries even if they are just like the ones at home. How are your accommodations? Are there lots of travellers at the hostel? Are you still planning on your ski trip? Keep up with the blogs - this is a great way to travel vicariously!
love MOM (KP)
