I know you've been waiting for this comment... EVAN! Holy crap dude! I just had a flash flood of your amazing trip so far, I'd actually forgotten you were gone (I've been way to busy this past month). Anyways I'm TOTALLY stoked that you guys are having such a great time. I actually cried a little when I read the 'Happy' meals thing. lol. Anyways, ummm, Sarah we've not met but I'm going to assume that Evan never stops talking about me and so I'm gonna say "Hi!" lol, I hope you guys are keepin' it real, don't have to much fun without me now. Drop me a line guys! More to say later. Byes!
Lovvely laos is sooo for me! hey ssarah and Evan! Omyy wow laus looks so amazing and different then the busy cities you've been staying in the past few weeks! I have been readin all of your blogs and it sounds like you've been finding some very "rustic" placed to stay the night!! haha but i truly envy and your drop of the hat exursions and all.. everything sounds really intresting, random, cool and Different and the relaxing atmosphere of laus sounds perrfect for me. And Evan i like your beardy thing you got going on- im not sure if anyones already said this but in that picture you look sooo much like Indiana Jones! is that cool or what? haha anyways I hope your continuing to watch for shifty cone-hat wearing individuals and keep writing your blogs.. i read every one!!
thoughts I couldn't help but think that some 30 odd years ago, the land which you are visiting was the most heavily bombed place in the history of the world. When the Americans were there fighting their war in Vietnam, the average age of the soldiers was 19 just around your age. I can't imagine the terror they and the indigenous people must have felt during those awful years. Keep up the great blogs...and yes Evan, we are calling you Indiana Evan.
Dad from Fundas
Lovely pics Love the pictures you guys are sending and nice haircut Evan! It sounds like you guys are having a blast minus the couple of bad incidences. It definitely is another world over there and glad to hear that you are experiencing it to the fullest. Sorry to hear about your camera, Meredith must be getting stressed about hers. Time is flying by, more so for you two I'm sure. Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.
wow! Sarah, The pictures are amazing. I am in awe of the scenery and the jumping into the river. Its looks like lots of fun. Glad to see you guys are having such a good time.
Nice to hear Nice to hear you had a wonderful time in Laos. Thank you for coming to our country and wish you good luck with the rest of your journey.
Khobchai :)
Wow! Very excited to see these pictures. What a contrast -the splendour of the That Thuong Temple to the simple thatched huts on stilts in the village. The karsts look incredible and the kayaking down the Mekong sounds like lots of fun. I hope the volunteer opportunity works out, if not you two can just relax a bit more - but pass on the "Happy menu".
P.S. Evan I like you new look!
MOM
nice hair cut well Indiana Jones, you're looking very rugged and about twenty five years old sporting your new hair cut. Amazing pictures and I have absolutely no way of comprehending how you tolorate all these bus trips. You used to feel sick when I took you on the city bus to the library and the art gallery when you were young. It all sounds so interesting and we're all learning many things as we research where you two are. As look at these pics I can't help but wonder about all the smells(especially on the buses) and in the markets. As you swing through the vines, remember about all the parasitic infested waters you are supposed to stay out of. Sorry , I had to say something it's a mother's perogative. You're in all our thoughts and take care. Fifteen days until spring here. love from G-ville.
Turtles Wowzah, this month flew by! Vietnam sounds like so much fun, I'm interested to hear about Laos next. I liked the part about the giant stuffed turtle on the beach, but hey, I'm partial. I missss you sooo much Srah, keep the updates coming!
So..he drove away with your guitar? You'll have to buy another. Sorry to hear about your troubles including the pick pocketing which occured. You guys need to be extra vigilant at all times. You still have another three months to go and India is supposed to be even worse for that kind of stuff. Hopefully the weather will get a little warmer in Loas. Take care.
a' dece Hey guys yor tirp looks amazing, im very jealous. I'm Glad you havent been abducted by some crazy commies for mind control experiments or something. hualgh!
Mui Ne Mui Ne is truly a wonderful spot. I've been living there since 2003. Be sure to visit Ta Kou Mountain and the Cham towers while you are there. There is an "official site for Mui Ne at www.muinebeach.net. PS. The photo top-left (first one) is not mui ne. May be china?
Nha Trang -Valentine's Day Great Pictures - Looks like lots of fun - esp. the party boat -oh I mean the Island Tour Boat - (what is the drinking age?). I esp. loved the picture of Evan with the school kids. Glad to hear you are moving on to Hoi An, have read really good things about it. Valentine's dinner sounded amazing -hope you are picking up some cooking tips.Take care and keep up with the sunscreen!
Love MOM
wow. definitely jealous. you two look like yer doin' it up well. keep takin' those lovely pictures. helps take my mind off the three feet of snow i'm trudging around in.
happy trails!!
So many adventures, so many new people.have you two had any quiet days? The pics are fabulous however I'd like to see the ones you're not showing us! Looks like you're having a tremendous time.Be careful, wear your hats and sunscreen and enjoy your week without me e mailing you while we're away. Love from the whole family, mom
heyyy saran and evan! wow! Vietnam and Da- lat look Ah- mazing!I looove looking at your pictures cuz they are gorgeus. They must have been taken by a really good camera-say... mine?haha it looks like you two are having an awsome time and meeting new people. But watch out for those pick pocketers- the little ones are the worst! ehhe anywyas i love the blog so keep writing!
5 days until Panama Love the latest blog and pictures. Still can't get my head around the fact you're on the other side of the world and won't be calling for a ride home tonight. My favourite pic is Sarah with the little boy, however I guess from your latest blog those are the ones you have to watch out for. Keep your money and documents close at all times, never in your pocket. Evan, just curious as to whether you set off the metal detectors with all those metal plates and screws in your face from your surgery.(seriously) Anyway, sounds as though you two are having the time of your life(isn't there a song like that) and that's what it's all about. However, I'll still be worrying about you in Panama, but at least I'll have the ocean lapping against my toes and a rum punch in my hand to help ease my anxiety.
Lots of love, your family in G-ville.(happy valentines day).
Dalat Having just visited Dalat for X-mas it brings back memories of my trip and I wish I was still there instead of Calgary. Enjoy the cool weather while you can cause it's hot in Nha Trang. Also, Island tour=Booze Cruise !!
Amazing Simply amazing...you actually ran into someone from Westdale...how cool. Your pictures are fantastic as well, especially on the beach and dunes. We are living through your experiences. Sue wants to know if she can pack her bags and come and join you. Keep up the blogs they are great. Be safe, be smart and take care. LOL
