Inside the church

Beauty
We love going in churches when we travel. The architecture is simplistic and lovely.

Molinaseca : A beautiful village.

Great photos!
Congrats on making it to and letting go of things at the Cruz de Fierro (very nice stones you had). I see that you'll soon be at big city Ponferrada with its fab Templar's Castle, and then at one of my really favorite stops, Villafranca del Bierzo. I do hope you visit the several magical, Romanesque churches there. You're bringing back such wonderful memories--thank you!

Gaudi's Vision

Lovely Astorga
So glad you toured Gaudi's Bishop's Palace and enjoyed Astorga! Sounds as if my old albergue near the cathedral has suffered since I was there--and no salt water fountain--sorry about that. Glad Sue's feet are better, and she can join you in walking. Buen camino!

Jealous
The square and Roman gates look amazing. I am jealous of you seeing one of Gaudi's buildings.

It is what it is
Yep! You can't wear your feet down to the bones so glad Sue is taking a little time out for her feet to heel. Steve so sorry your shoulders are sore from having to carry those others...no doubt their time for being the donkey will come. Tim hope you are having a fantastic time. Liz x

Crane nests

cranes' nests
I love the crane's nests! I'd never seen one before the camino, so now, whenever I see them, it takes me back to wonderful northern Spain. I'm so excited you'll be in Astorga, my town! Hope Sue's feet are better in her new shoes.

Look how much you have achieved already
Being foot-sore aka injured is no joke, so celebrate how well you have done so far and see this part of the adventure as a little down-time to rest and recoup before getting back on your feet. In other words, smell the nachos on the way! Love to you all. Liz

Hola!
Hey guys. Tough decisions but sounds very much like the right decisions. Rest up, enjoy a break and enjoy the local community!

Carrion
Steve, with that ominous name of the town being Carrion it would be most advisable to rest up! This is like the middle part of a marathon, so much more to do and so much energy already expended!! You all can do it, Australia is behind you!

By the way...
you are Blogger of the Week. I hope this provides you with a bit of inspiration to keep going, but at a cautious pace.

You aren't the only ones to skip portions....
especially the meseta in order to heal then continue to the end. DeadFred, who was a couple days behind you, had to withdraw once he arrived in Logrono due to knee and leg issues and will resume where he left off in 2016.
