If I had to describe my first few days in Italy with three words, they would be: overwhelming, exciting, and incredible. Upon our arrival in Italy, I was extremely overwhelmed: There was so much going on at the same time. So many people, a different language, and completely different environment than what I’m used to. For nearly the entire day, I felt as if I was in a haze. Being in Italy still didn’t feel real to me. The first few hours here were not the best for me. As if being unable to sleep on two plane rides totaling around 9 hours wasn’t stressful enough, being dropped on the sidewalk in front of my apartment with no further instruction was terrifying, to say the least.
